In a dystopian world, humanity has lost its seat of honour and is counted among vermins. An Ancient race of aliens, hidden in plain sight for millennia, has taken the centre stage. With them, the paranormal species, hidden in pages of fiction have come out. New rules are in place. Among it, a Vampire father and his apparently human son grapple to adjust. They are soon joined by a woman pregnant with the child of a werewolf. Are they all what they seem? What identity lay hidden behind their masks and what will happen when their past comes knocking?

The world has changed. It was sudden and yet slow. No one knew that a prophecy from before recorded history spoke of a change that would upturn the rule of humanity, a queen who would either destroy or enslave civilisation as we know it. The colonisation happened overnight. All the governments fell. Noravia, a nation buried deep in the Ural mountains, hidden for thousands of years, rose to prominence under a new monarch. Creatures from the pages of fiction came out of shadows to worship a species called Ancients, creatures that were so powerful that it was obvious that they are not human.

David Bar-Jesse lived a quiet life in a small town in New Zealand. He was living in a human colony amidst a forest inhabited by several groups of werewolves. He lived with his cousin, Joshua Bar-Jesse, a decorated and retired vampire soldier from the nation of Noravia. When the human colony was formed, the Manor in which they resided already existed. No one knew when the two first formed their home there but they showed up to live permanently in their home a week before the government fell. Following that there was a mass migration of humans and paranormals. It appeared that the change was permanent and everyone accepted it.

Things changed when they came face to face with Ruby, the pregnant maid.

Her life was a blank slate. She didn't know if it was a good thing that she didn't remember anything of her old life or the old world. She woke up without a memory three days after the government had fallen, only to be informed by her husband that he is a werewolf and they needed to leave the Noravian territory as the werewolves refused to accept the change in regime among the Ancients.

The Ancients were a group of paranormals with powers to control matter and energy. They were essentially super-species, that were formed from the union of two separate species from different parts of the unknown multiverse. They ruled over everything paranormal till their king Bael did something unpardonable and was asked to step down. The one to take over the throne was not universally accepted as King and the Werewolves declared a separate ruler and moved South.

She learned from her husband that because she was a human the tribe to which he belonged refused to accept her and she had to live in a human colony alone while pregnant. Left at her own devices Ruby sought work at the only place where work was available-The Manor.

Ruby's earliest lesson in her new life was acceptance but all that changed when a group of Vampires tested her and found her to be carrying a paranormal baby. The assessment did not surprise Ruby but it surprised her husband who declared the child to be a result of adultery and refused to be the father. Not only that, with the fear of the unknown looming large, he divorced her in view of the tribal council and left her in the human village.

Circumstances forced Ruby to move into the attic of the Manor undetected but when she was caught her life changed, all because of a ruby ring.
