"What's wrong?" she asked.
Elias exhaled. "I don't like this, Lena. I don't like that we have to play their game, the secrecy, the manipulation. It feels like we're always one step away from becoming what we're fighting against."
Lena understood.
But she had already crossed that line.
She walked over to him, placing her glass beside his. "Elias, we're not them."
Elias laughed. Not in amusement, but in frustration. "Aren't we? We just orchestrated a takedown. We're about to remove one of the most powerful men in this company without proof that would hold up in court."
Lena frowned. "We know what he did."
"We think we know." Elias's voice was sharp. "What if we're wrong?"
Lena stiffened. "You don't trust me?"
Elias stepped closer. "I trust you more than anyone. That's the problem."
Silence stretched between them.
