Chapter 85 - Sentrav’s location

Liam held a grey egg with a greenish hue in his hand.

[Egg of the Mutated Grey-skinned Alligator

Category: Rare

Effect: A young Mutated Grey-skinned Alligator hatches from it which can be tamed as a pet.

Restrictions: Class with the ability to tame pets

A well-rounded pet which will be of great assistance in battle.]

Liam played around with the egg, wishing he could take it for himself. But unfortunately, his class didn't allow it.

Although some ways existed to circumvent the restriction, this was a matter for the future.

Right now, the Silent Acacia was the only one with the ability to rear pets amongst Liam's friends.

I guess this will be a pleasant surprise for him…

[Nature +1]

My nature stat went up? It's probably for discovering so many materials. Not bad.

Nature was an auxiliary stat like Knowledge or Arcana. They could be primarily increased by learning or observing certain things. Their main usage was to advance some quests.

However, some extremely rare spells existed which required auxiliary stats to be learned.

Liam wasn't particularly interested in his Nature stat as he put the egg away and left Sentrav's home.

He closed the door and turned around, leaving through the high grass. Rustling noises followed his every step.

Liam glanced over his shoulder, chuckling as he watched Dorn carefully following him from a distance.

The poor alligator felt a glimmer of hope to see her master again.

Liam let her be, wafting through the swamp. At first, he was able to advance quickly but towards the end the pesky mosquitos had already respawned, ready to make his life difficult.

Dorn also didn't deign to help. She stayed far away, watching Liam with a glint in her eyes, almost gloatingly.

When Liam left the swamp, poison was still slowly chipping away at his HP. He glanced at Dorn, murmuring under his breath:

"Want me to find your master but not lending any help. Damn freeloader."

The alligator seemingly didn't understand, casually following behind Liam.

When they returned to busier streets the people avoided Dorn cautiously, intimidated by her appearance. But no one started any trouble as it wasn't strange for warriors to travel with their pets or mounts.

Thus, Liam returned to the temple district unhindered together with the alligator.

Alotrs was still tending to some plants when he felt someone come closer. He looked up, his eyes quickly falling on Liam's companion.

"Dorn… Sentrav didn't even take you with him? What was he thinking?"

"Raooh."

"He said he will be back soon? Hasn't he been missing for years now?"

"Roo!"

"A hunting trip, huh. Well, I hope we will know more soon."

Liam stood at the side, watching the priest skeptically. He couldn't confirm if the human and monster were really conversing with each other.

Luckily, Alotrs soon turned to the player.

"Adventurer, since you brought Dorn here, I take it that you succeeded?"

"Yes, priest. Here is Sentrav's pot."

"Hmmm… I can feel the strong sentiment. I knew that Sentrav always loved food but to such an extent…"

Alotrs chuckled faintly as he took the pot from Liam.

"Come. Let us hold the ritual."

With those words the priest turned around, entering the small chapel. His body barely fitted through the narrow entrance. The few sacrifices and relics placed on the floor forced him to watch his every step.

Liam stayed outside, fearing that one wrong step would destroy some sacred bowl, drawing the church's hatred. Dorn sneaked next to him, watching Alotrs with curiosity and longing.

The priest came to a stop before the small statue representing Ternavolae. Knelling on the floor he took out a large variety of fruits, many of them exotic and rare, placing them around the pot.

Next, he placed both his palms on the left of his chest while lowering his head.

"Ternavolae. Goddess of fertility, benevolent mother.

Sacred is thy name, thou who gifts all of creation the means to live.

This servant, I, requests humbly your assistance. Please open your benevolent heart and feel the strong sentiments attached to this… vital tool… before me.

This servant humbly inquires the location of the person closely connected to it.

In thy boundless benevolence."

As Alotrs' pious voice faded out, a moment of silence fell on the chapel. But suddenly a warm light spread from the small statue.

It shone on Sentrav's pot, the sacrificial fruits, and the priest.

Slowly the exotic food began to rise, levitating around the pot. Illusionary images overlapped with them depicting the mature states of the plants.

Towering trees and lush bushes could be seen. A vast root network spread out, reaching deep into the floor and growing out of the chapel.

But most of it concentrated on the pot caressing it like someone attempting to imagine an object with their eyes closed.

A few seconds later the illusion receded, gathering in a ball of light which suddenly shot towards Alotrs' head, disappearing in his brain.

Alotrs shook, a blissful smile on his face as if hearing from his mother for the first time after a long absence.

The priest remained kneeling for a few more seconds while the light dimmed before standing up and stepping outside.

"Priest, did you receive the information?"

"Yes. Praised be goddess Ternavolae. Here, let me show you."

With those words Alotrs took out a map from somewhere. It showed the edge of a vast continent, which was the floating continent Deaviny, birthplace of the godspawn.

Next to it was a large ocean, the main focus of the map. Hundreds of islands were depicted withing the large body of water. The further form the continent the smaller those islands became, with many of them uninhabited.

Alotrs pointed at one of the small islands. A bit of magic left his finger, painting a yellow dot on the map.

"Here, this is the island Sentrav is staying on. Since it is unnamed let's follow tradition and call it Sentrav's Island."

With this short explanation Alotrs handed the map over to Liam. At this moment his quest updated and even the game's usually minimalistic map received large additions, revealing the islands which the original nephilim considered their home.

"Thank you, priest. I will bring the information to old Gabe."

"Yes, do that. And warn him not to create trouble, alright?"

"I will remember it."

Liam politely bade his goodbye, leaving the chapel with Dorn accompanying him faithfully.

An excited light could be found in the alligator's eyes. Obviously, she was delighted to know Sentrav's location, even showing signs of running ahead of Liam.

Unfortunately, Dorn didn't have money for the teleporter, thus she had to wait for the leisurely nephilim.

Liam glanced at Dorn who rushed onto the platform with him before paying and disappearing form Duabalis City.

When he arrived in Prento the young man didn't delay for even a moment, quickly leaving the town.

Yet his appearance still caused a commotion.

"Look, what up with this monster?"

"Is it following that man?"

"Bleary Mirage, I saw you! Wait for me! I want…"

"Is that a boss? Elite? Should we kill it?"

Liam already expected the players to discuss Dorn. Thus, he ran at his fastest pace, not giving anyone time to react.

Surprisingly Dorn easily kept up as the duo soon reached Gabe's hut.

The older man obviously didn't have the patience to fish right now. He stared at the horizon, his expression constantly changing.

When he heard the cracking of wood behind him Gabe rapidly turned around. He only gazed at Liam for a moment before noticing Dorn behind him.

"Damn, ungrateful idiot! Sentrav! You even left Dorn behind?! $&§!*%!

Curses immediately spewed out of Gabe's mouth but his face softened. He passed Liam, stopping before Dorn and petting her head kindly.

"Rooo!"

"Yes, I'm glad to see you too."

Dorn and Gabe celebrated their reunion for a few seconds before the nephilim turned to Liam.

"Since you have found Dorn, I assume your quest was a success?"

"Yes. I have found Sentrav's current location."

Liam nodded calmly as he handed over the map given by Alotrs. Gabe scanned it, his forehead filled with deep wrinkles.

"Sentrav! Damn! What made you run off to such a godforsaken place?! Did you think no one would remember you?!

Just you wait! When I find you…"

A grating noise could be heard from how strong Gabe gritted his teeth. After taking a deep breath he looked at Liam again:

"Adventurer, thank you for your help. I don't have much on me, but you can have this old fishing rod of mine as a thank you.

Don't look down on it. It is quite sturdy."

"Thank you."
