Chapter 68 - Holy Tempest

Suddenly a sigh came from behind Liam's back.

"Someone found teacher? Young nephilim, let it be."

Liam knew that the person he waited for arrived. He stood up, finding a rather short female nephilim with long white hair behind him. Her body full of power and the missing left eye gave her a valiant appearance.

"Are you Ganrala??", questioned Liam despite knowing the answer.

The woman obviously didn't find it strange that someone recognized her.

"Yes, I'm Ganrala the brave. Disciple of Reychnalyn. Guardian of nephilim!"

Ganrala stood with a heroic posture, her prominent abs visible below her slim chest armor.

Liam knew that the NPC was a heroic character, looking at her with admiring eyes.

"Young nephilim, did you come to learn from my teacher?"

"Yes, someone told me that he is one of the most powerful original nephilim. I want to learn the chaotic tempest class form him."

"What a pity.", sighed Ganrala. "Ever since our pact with hell shattered, teacher hasn't been the same. Except from his disciples, he refuses to see people. You won't be able to learn from him."

"Is that so?", asked Liam with disappointment.

"Yes, unfortunately.

However… I see that you have a lot of potential. Why don't you consider learning form me?"

"Really?"

"Yes. Although I am not allowed to teach the chaotic tempest class, we disciples have worked hard over the years to develop a similar class which doesn't rely on dark magic."

Liam nodded his head. This was the reason why he came here.

The veteran knew that chaotic tempest was a pinnacle class not available before level 50. Right now, he could only learn the holy tempest class from Ganrala.

[Do you wish to accept the quest 'Class change: Holy Tempest'?]

[Yes]

[No]

"I would be incredibly grateful."

"Great. Then come with me."

[ Quest: Cass change: Holy Tempest]

[Step one: Follow Ganrala]

Liam did as told, walking behind the powerful nephilim.

At this time, Liam's friends slowly came online after a night of celebration, discussing in the group chat.

Most of them were without plans, asking for class recommendations from Liam. Naturally the veteran wouldn't be stingy, digging his brain for powerful and suitable classes for everyone.

Suddenly an angry message came from Cyclone.

[Cyclone: This despicable Star Gazer!]

[Silver Blade: What?]

[Cyclone: He's giving interviews again, hinting that it was him who hired a team to clear the first dungeon!]

[Silver Blade: He dares?!]

[Radiant Shield: What a lowly man!]

[Fortune: Is he crazy? My video will come out tonight!]

[Cyclone: Video? Oh, right! Haha, then everyone will see it was us who cleared the dungeon!]

[Balm: It still feels bad.]

[Cyclone: Hey, did you see the notification? Let's all get on the ranking list and put some pressure on that loser!]

[Balm: Good idea!]

Bleary Mirage watched as his teammates quickly filled out the ranking list. Another commotion was engulfing the global chat, but Liam had no time to watch as he and Ganala reached a small training arena.

Its floor was made from dirt, which was surrounded by a simple wall. Heavy clashes could be heard from within it.

When Ganala and Liam entered, they found two valiant men battle each other, holy light shooting in all directions.

Ganala gave her trainee a few seconds to take in the sight, letting him witness the power of holy tempests.

When she saw Bleary Mirage staring at the fight with impressed eyes, she nodded in satisfaction before calling out.

"Demuni! Lerg! Take a break for now, we have a new trainee!"

It took a few seconds for the fighting men to stop. Their sweaty bodies glistened in the sun as they looked over, mustering Liam calmly.

To the veteran's surprise those two were actually holy nephilim, the bright white wings behind their backs opened proudly.

Despite being in the home of original nephilim they still had a haughty air about them as they stepped to the side.

"Let's see what you're made of, newbie."

Demuni spoke skeptically as Ganala led Lima into the arena.

"The best way to learn is through actual combat.

Are you ready young nephilim?"

Liam already knew what to expect. He took a deep breath as he nodded solemnly.

"Good."

Ganala grinned as she walked to the side, activating a magical circle.

Suddenly Liam felt his body change. A white armor appeared on his body, with two sharp swords lying in his hands. This was a newbie equipment for holy tempests, granted temporarily by the game.

The class in his status changed as the player was given a few seconds to familiarize himself with the new class.

Notifications popped up before Liam, offering him a short tutorial.

Fortunately, Liam already knew about most of it or it would be difficult to learn much in such a short time.

Still, he hastily read everything, making sure that nothing changed compared to his past life.

Holy tempest… damage reliant on INT and AGI… allowed to wield two weapons. A new passive skill [Holy Mark].

[Holy Mark (passive)

Effect: Every attack of yours has a 50% chance to mark the enemy with a holy mark. Holy marks synergize with your skills. Stacking five holy marks on one enemy leads the marks to explode, dealing holy damage.]

This should be my most important skill. At the same time other skills will be automatically adjusted to synergize with holy mark.

And I gain two new skills while my resource switches from fury to mana.

Everything is as I remembered it.

Just as Liam was done reading, a light came from the magic circle activated by Ganala. Suddenly five zombies appeared in the arena, staring at Liam with insatiable hunger.

"You guys again…"

Liam joked as he checked them briefly.

[Minor Zombie

Rank: Common

Level: 10

HP: 1500/1500]

Liam jumped a bit in place, getting used to his automatically changed stats and weight.

A second later the first zombie was before him.

Liam quickly swung both his swords before dodging gracefully, his movements instinctual.

[-206!]

[-103!]

[Stance -10]

Not bad…

The veteran grinned, looking at the single holy mark above the zombie's head.

The other monsters arrived rapidly as well. Liam danced outside their attack range, saving his stance, before using one of his new skills.

An impulse came from Liam, spreading a wave of brilliant holy magic, dealing some damage and putting a holy mark on every enemy.

His skill hadn't even reached the enemy yet when Liam dove forward, using his [Double Slash]. The skill was modified by the class change, it's first attack adding a holy mark, while its second attack prompted it to explode.

The veteran fought with profound concentration, preforming difficult moves and choosing tricky angles. Three of the zombies were hit by his double slash.

Small explosions went off as the holy marks exploded, rattling the zombies.

Liam's first target was carrying three holy marks, taking copious amounts of damage.

[-296!]

"Way to go newbie!"

Even Ganala appeared impressed, cheering form the side.

However, the zombies only turned angrier, swiping their ugly claws at Liam. He stepped back, letting them hit empty air.

[Stance -20]

Liam watched worriedly as his important resource dwindled. But he had no other options than to continue the fight.

He swung his swords again, seeking to build up holy marks. A few seconds later his skills came off cooldown, allowing him to send another wave of holy magic.

Liam circled the roaring zombies, using [Double Slash] and normal attacks perfectly to hit multiple enemies.

But suddenly a sluggish feeling overcame his body.

My stance is used up…

The veteran gritted his teeth watching the opponent's HP.

I got this.

Encouraging himself Liam swung his swords quickly. At this point it was only a contest of raw stats.

[-206!]

Liam sighed in relief when the first opponent fell to the floor. However, the other zombies weren't impressed, keeping up their attacks.

[-92!]x4

Reaching level 10 Liam had a bit over 1200HP. Thus, he would be able to survive another two rounds of attacks.

The veteran did the calculations in his head while tirelessly swinging his swords.

Another zombie folded as its HP emptied out. Liam sighed in relief. With a brutal strike he stunned one enemy, only taking two attacks.

The pressure noticeably decreased. Liam kept up his focus nonetheless until he finally managed to kil the last zomby, having only a couple hundred HP left.

Slow clapping rang out in the arena. Even the two holy nephilim acknowledged the newbie's power.

"Well done, well done. I didn't expect you to kill them all!"

Ganala exclaimed proudly, revealing information about the quest.

Liam had already known that it wasn't necessary to kill all zombies, but it was important for his evaluation.

He was rewarded for his efforts when Ganala came over with a bright smile, handing him a skill book.

"Take this. It is something I personally compiled for promising newbies. You deserve it."

"Thank you!"

Liam couldn't suppress his grin as he checked out the book.
