The moment he was finally alone with Violet, who lay unmoving on the bed, Cain sank into the only chair that had been placed closer to the bed with his left hand under his jaw, his legs lightly tapping impatiently on the ground as he waited for her to wake up.
The seconds ticked away. Regardless, his gaze was fixed completely on her pale face and even paler lips as she continued to lie there until finally, her fingers twitched, followed by her eyelids, which signified that she had woken up.
Yet, Cain didn't move closer as he continued to sit deathly still in his chair. Even the sound of his breathing was nonexistent as he waited for her to fully wake up, which she soon did.
Her arm muscles were the first to move as she slowly lifted her upper body off the bed, her head bobbing from side to side in confusion right before she raised her hand and ripped off the piece of cloth that had been tied around her eyes.
