"Wha-what? You want to come in? You can't!" Violet immediately responded with an aghast expression on her face.
"You're not even supposed to be on this floor!" she told him, looking at him with an incredulous look on her face, wondering how someone like him always seemed to get himself into some difficult situations.
"Nathan! Trust me! You should leave and—"
"—so you're saying that regardless of what I do, I can never make you see me as a friend?" he asked, even as he slowly began to wail and loudly sob, with tears streaming down his face.
"Gosh! I'm such a fool. I thought you were genuine and truly wanted me, but you're a liar just like the rest of them!"
Violet hadn't deeply thought about it, but in that moment, she realized that there was something really wrong with Nathan. He had deep-seated issues that made him extra clingy, something she wasn't sure was a good thing considering how hard it was for him to let go.
