Her hand gripped her neck as she stared at the ground, her vision too blurred to make out her surroundings. The pounding in her head was loud, almost like the only thing she could hear, and the memory of being unable to breathe was embedded in her mind. She heard footsteps and raised her gaze to make out Ravon's face.
Violet immediately jerked back, trying to run away as fear coiled around every inch of her body. His hands were no longer around her neck, yet she found it difficult to breathe, even as she hurriedly scrambled away—only to feel her arm grabbed tightly enough to make her scream in pain.
"I won't break it yet! You can scream, but you can't be heard from outside!" he harshly whispered in her ear, even as Violet's eyes flung open in shock. She felt him grab her by the neck again and tilt her head backward, pouring something down her throat.
