Chapter 11 - **Chapter 11: He-sus**

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or otherwise, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there; you must go beyond them."

I remember hearing that quote before, but it's only now that I truly get it.

After hours of *training*—let's call it that, even though it felt more like torture—under Master Biscuit, I can finally handle the basics and some advanced Nen principles, or at least what my body allows.

I've got a handle on my measly Nen now. It's like running state-of-the-art software on a vintage PC—barely any power, but at least I've got the tools to work with.

I know I need to build on it because growth takes time. Sure, there's something called the Nen vow, but I won't even think about that yet. I don't even know what it is.

Still, even with NZT-48 boosting me, I wasn't sure it would actually work.

Apparently, though, NZT-48 has an added bonus: it maximizes your potential *at the moment of ingestion*. 100% brain access for 24 hours? It's like breaking the laws of reality. With Master's lessons, Nen started to feel like an extension of myself.

It was like when Kurapika uses Emperor Time with his red eyes. Everything just *clicked*.

I got cocky. For a brief moment, I felt like a god—ruling over my little kingdom. *Hehehe.*

Of course, the NZT-48 high wore off, and the god complex faded with it.

But I still held onto some of the basics—Ten, Ren, Zetsu, and the advanced Gyo. Master had drilled me hard, just like she did with Gon and Killua on Greed Island.

"Quit whining, you're fine. You knew what you signed up for."

"You knew this would happen before you popped that magic pill. Now, come here so Cookie-chan can fix you up. And tell me again what's next."

"Yep, Master."

I walked over to her, where she was lounging in a glamping tent, sipping tea.

Ah yes, she had me turn my room into the Greed Island training canyon for this. Perfect for the job.

I lay on my stomach, waiting for Cookie to work her magic.

"Well, spill. What's next?"

"So, *ahem*, we just finished *Resident Evil*. Survived with Jie, Lan, Zheng, and that kid—what's his name?"

"Zheng's the MC, and Lori's his love interest. Don't need to go into that since you already know them, Master."

"Yeah, yeah, go on."

"Then there's Jie. He's supposed to be our 'guide'—made by the so-called god of this whole place."

"But here's the catch: he's not doing his job. He's pretending to be a veteran with only three movies under his belt. If he does his job as a guide, he won't be needed anymore, and both he and his wife will be erased by god. So, he's just using us to stay alive. He'll prune some people to maintain the status quo."

"That's bold of him," Master said, tapping her cup thoughtfully. "Go on."

"Right. The thing is, he won't last long. Zheng's got plot armor—*ahem*, I mean genetic constraints. Unlocking those is key to entering team battles, and once that happens, Jie will have no choice but to do his job."

"So what's your plan?"

"Survive, first and foremost. Honestly, I was a wreck before all this. Transmigration hit me hard, and I spent too long pretending to be someone I wasn't."

"To get through this, we need three things: keep Zheng from unlocking his constraints early, unlock ours, and get rid of Jie and this new guy, Xuan, who shows up in *Alien*."

"How do you plan to do that?"

"Step one: keep up appearances and start building my own team. Step two: take out the annoying ones quietly. Step three: maximize every movie's potential. Anything we take with us goes straight to god's dimension when we leave. So let's take advantage of that."

"Hmmm. Smart. And what about that vial of T-virus you're holding onto? You thinking of using that?"

"I'm thinking we could make it work for us. I just don't know how yet."

"Of course. I'm in! This is going to be fun. By the way, you mentioned *Lord of the Rings*… you think we could get our hands on *The Silmarillion*?"

"Master, you're the best stone hunter in the world. I bet you could snag it for us. *Hehehe*."

"What do you mean *I*? *We* are doing this together, remember?"

"Right, right, Master. That's what I meant."

**Knock knock.**

I was bracing for the usual punishment, but the knock came just in time to save me.

When I opened the door, I saw Xiaoyi and Lan standing there.

"Jie wants us to gather by the ball of light. He's got an announcement," Xiaoyi said, looking around with wide eyes.

"Sure, give me a sec." I grinned. "I'll be right there."

(*Time to switch gears—*)

"Master, they're waiting outside for the talk," I called.

We stepped out to find Zheng, eyes closed as he asked the questions that plagued him.

Jie and the others watched him curiously.

While Kris and Biscuit stood off to the side, already aware of the things transpiring.

After Zheng seemed to have gotten all the answers he needed, he apologized and led everyone to his room. There, he told Lori to stay calm before revealing the truth about her death and what he was planning.

Lori initially misunderstood, fearing he was about to break up with her, but when he explained, she laughed and brushed it off, reassured.

In the living room, Jie and the others reacted with a mix of surprise and amusement.

Kris stayed in the corner, along with Biscuit, as they continued to watch Jie's charade unfold, with everyone eating it up.

Zheng explained his unexpected situation, revealing that Lori was a copy based on his memories. Jie was impressed by the system's abilities but acknowledged how dangerous the movies were.

Zheng proposed forming a team for survival since no one could face the challenges alone.

Lan joked about Zheng's sudden change, but Jie agreed with the idea of teamwork.

Zheng also shared his theory about earning side quest rewards, explaining how he had earned points by changing the plot.

The others were shocked, but Zheng, undeterred, spoke of their need to survive and reach their goal.

With a new sense of purpose, Zheng and the group prepared for whatever came next, knowing they needed to stick together to make it through.

At this point, Kris could only shake his head in pity for these naive fools.

But, just like everyone else, he played along. Hopefully, when the time came and he could untangle the Jie debacle, he could help these guys somehow.

After that little episode, everyone moved out of Zheng's room to allow Lori her privacy.

They went on to discuss things like the stats and items they should exchange for.

Jie addressed the group. "There are six main stats to enhance: intelligence, cell vitality, reaction speed, muscle density, and immunization strength. Focus on reaction speed and muscle density if you want to keep up in our next run."

He then turned to Zheng. "You've earned enough for a genetic enhancement. Spend your points on stats, and maybe consider a magical item for supernatural threats."

Zheng nodded, then closed his eyes. Less than a second later, he stepped into the beam of light beneath the God sphere.

Zheng was lifted into the air, bathed in light, while particles merged into him.

Everyone, including Kris and Biscuit, watched all of this.

Jie, watching with a grin, joked, "Hey, look, honey. It's Jesus," calling his wife, who was just approaching the group.

Kris couldn't help but whisper a retort near Biscuit's ear, "Yeah, He-sus."

Biscuit could only agree as she had been observing Jie as well.
