Chapter 68 - Don't Leave

Delphinia tiptoed down the quiet hallway, clutching her cardigan tightly around her. She paused just outside Evander's room, chewing her lower lip nervously.

Her plan was simple: grab a pillow from his room and head back to Ashton's. She assumed Evander wouldn't be in his room yet—it was far too early for him to retire for the night.

Pushing the door open cautiously, she slipped inside. Delphinia's gaze darted toward the pillows piled invitingly at the head of the bed, her target in sight.

But then she froze.

Evander was already there.

He was sitting on the edge of the bed, his head bowed slightly as if lost in thought. His hair was slightly disheveled, as though he'd run his hands through it repeatedly.

Delphinia blinked, her heart racing as his head turned toward her.

"Delphinia?" Evander's deep voice broke the silence, tinged with a hint of surprise.
