Evander couldn't recall the last time he felt such relief at the end of a workday. The ticking clock in his office felt louder than ever, each second dragging on as though time itself conspired to keep him away from home. Finally, with work done for the day, he left his office, coat draped over one arm.
The moment the doors slid open and he stepped out into the hallway, his eyes landed on Hugo's desk. Hugo was still seated, fingers flying over his keyboard as he worked on something intently. But the moment Evander walked by, Hugo's head shot up, and a teasing grin spread across his face.
"Heading home, huh? Let me guess—rushing back to check if she's come back yet?" Hugo remarked, leaning back in his chair with a knowing smirk.
Evander shot him a warning glare, his jaw tightening. "Mind your own business, Hugo," he said flatly, though the faintest hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
