Delphinia walked into the grand living room of the mansion, her footsteps muffled by the plush carpet. She paused, taking in the pristine condition of the house.
She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and sighed, looking at the feather duster. She'd wanted to help out with the chores, but the maids had already handled everything perfectly. Every vase, shelf, and corner was spotless.
Delphinia placed the duster back on a side table, a wry smile tugging at her lips. "Well, that's one way to feel useless," she murmured to herself.
Trying to make the most of her time, she strolled into the little reading corner by the living room. The bookshelves and the inviting armchair practically called her name. She selected a glossy magazine from the pile on the coffee table and settled in, skimming through the pages without much focus.
