Chapter 11 - Home, The Long Way Round

"Oh my lovely gods. Oh my child, why are you crying? Don't cry, you'll make me cry too. You were eating such beautiful and delicious food and suddenly you started crying. Why are you crying?" He puts his old hand on his cheek, which was wrinkled from old age. There was sadness and motherly affection in his voice. He said thoughtfully.

"I don't know how to explain it. I just miss my family, my home." As soon as the words came out of my mouth, more tears started to flow from my eyes. Now the beads of my tears had turned into a flood, and I was sniffling. The words of the 14-year-old young man had touched the old woman's heart. She hugged the young man, tears flowing from her eyes.

"Oh my child, I want you to know that I'm with you. If your parents were here, they would be proud of you. They raised a child like a diamond. May the gods welcome your mother and father home. Tears don't always flow from evil, sometimes they flow from longing. Cry my child, I'm with you." The woman said these things while looking at the young man's face and then hugged him tightly again. The young man's sadness touched the old man as well. He said the following, his eyes slightly wet.

"If my father were here, he would say that men don't cry, but I am not my father. Son, pain is a part of being human. If it weren't for pain, if it weren't for sacrifice, we would have nothing. It is one of the greatest blessings the gods have given to us humans." The old man wanted to tell something with his wise words.

"Pain is a part of being human, I don't want to be human anymore," I said. I had collapsed chaotically. Siri, who heard what I said, said the following.

"Do you want to get rid of your pain? Should your past memory files be deleted? If you want them to be deleted, would you approve?"

The Siri inside me said these. The pain inside me would be determined whether it would go away or not according to the decision I made. If I approved, the pain would completely disappear, but I would never be able to see my family again, not even in my memories. What would someone else do if it were in my place? While I was lost in thought, Daneel said the following to me.

"Son, it's been 30 years since I lost my family, and I still can't forget my parents. My mind is now coming and going, and I'm terrified that I'll forget what I've experienced. My family may be gone, but the times I spent with them will continue as long as I live. So, son, remember the good times you had with them. Even if your family is gone, if it will comfort you, you can see us as your family. I want you to know that we are always with you." The old man said in a tired voice. Daneel's words were starting to make sense to me.

"Siri, I have made my decision. No matter what, even if my path is paved with pain, I will continue. I don't want to erase my memories. Gather and present to me the happiest moments I spent with my family. Remember, one day I will meet my family again, on that day you will record my happiest memory." I said. In a few seconds, a slide show consisting of photos covering time from my infancy to my arrival here appeared in front of me. While looking at the slide, I laughed at times and sometimes felt sad. I vowed to myself that I would be with my family again one day. I stopped hugging Arwa now.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you so much." I couldn't say much because I was still under the influence of sadness. They didn't expect me to say anything anyway. I hug Arwa one last time. I left a happy smile on my face.

Our young man, who was reading something on his phone in a place where even time and space were far away from where I was, put down his phone and suddenly started looking around in surprise. He started examining his surroundings. He checked his old memories, or rather the time that had passed a little while ago. He tried to do magic but couldn't. Still, he celebrated by jumping in the air in this familiar room because he was back with his family. If someone from the outside looked, they would think the young man was just having fun. However, those who knew this young man would find it strange. This young man was a legendary wizard who had spent hundreds or even thousands of years to return home and had made a name for himself in the universe. I left the room and ran directly to the kitchen. I caught my mother preparing breakfast in the kitchen. I grabbed her hand and started dancing wildly with her.

"Son, are you crazy, what are you doing?" The woman said angrily, but she stopped because of her son's laughter. She started dancing with him. His father, who heard the voices, also came to the kitchen.

"Your son went crazy. While I was preparing breakfast, he suddenly came and started dancing with me," said the woman.

"Yes, mom, I went crazy. I love you very much, both you and dad. Dad, don't run away, when I'm done dancing with my mom, we will dance with you too," I said, laughing.

Hearing his son's words, the man was momentarily surprised, but they all burst out laughing. The young man's eyes lit up for a moment, and he smiled a faint, mysterious smile.
