As usual, while I was spending time on my phone in my bed, it suddenly went pitch black. After the momentary darkness, I started to go through a tunnel covered in orange, red and yellow lights that made me feel like it had no end. The colors were dancing with each other, the light effects were dazzling. If someone else were in my shoes, they would appreciate the colors and even fascinate them, unfortunately, I was terrified. What happened to me in this tunnel? Where is this place? While these questions were bothering me, I suddenly heard a sound that resembled a whale's voice. The buzzing sound was heard at high volumes here and there. It was as if the magnificent voice coming from far away was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't understand what it meant.
When I first heard it, I got goosebumps. I don't think I'll ever forget it. As time went by, I realized that the voice wasn't actually that scary, but that the line was gentle and embracing towards me. I don't know how to put it into words. I was sure that the voice wouldn't hurt me. I overcame my fear and asked who it was, what it wanted from me? Where was this place? Where was I going? No matter what I asked, I couldn't get an answer. Because my own voice wouldn't come out. Despite trying other methods, I couldn't make a sound in the environment no matter how hard I tried.
The sound continued for a while and only nothingness remained. My fear gradually gave way to anger and then after a while there was nothing left. I began to drag myself through the tunnel. No matter how far I went, it seemed like the end was endless. If the light had not taken on different patterns, I would not have even realized that I was advancing.
Time was also strange here. It felt like time had stopped at times and was passing very quickly at others. I waited for this strange situation to end as soon as possible. In order to get rid of this situation even a little, I started using my brain, humanity's greatest weapon. Thinking allowed me to forget my unpleasant situation even a little.
During part of the journey, I thought about the voice that had called out to me. Was it really there or was it just an echo? Over time, I became increasingly convinced that the voice was not naturally occurring but coming from a living being. I chose to name him Whaley because the sound had a similar sound to a whale. While drifting through the tunnel, I had become the first person to have the honor of interacting with an alien being, even if it was one-sided. I would have preferred to have met him properly, under better circumstances and in a situation of my own choosing.
Anyway, the mystery behind the voice was starting to become more and more intriguing. Would I ever learn the purpose of the mysterious voice? Was the voice a recording or did it speak to me directly? Why did it bring me to this tunnel? Most importantly, what was the message it wanted to convey to me?
Since I couldn't get the answers to these, I chose to ignore them for now. I started to focus on the problems that concern me more. Where does the tunnel end? Will we meet again? While asking myself questions, I made some inferences. I don't think Whaley has any bad intentions towards me because if he thought so, he could easily kill me. If he wanted to kill me for fun, he could easily try other methods. Why did Whaley capture me? What does he want to do with me?
As I listened to Whaley's voice, there was sadness, loneliness, and compassion in it. For some reason, it gave me the feeling that the voice was very old and could not do anything on its own. Was it giving me a task to do? If so, what was I supposed to do? Something inside me told me that my conclusions were getting closer to the truth.
The fact that a voice could make me think so much made me smile a little. While I was busy with my thoughts, the expected way out finally appeared.
