Chapter 8 - Miss Me?

As twilight fell, the sky burst into vibrant hues, softly shadowing the landscape. Crickets serenaded the approaching night, accompanied by the distant city hum. The crescent moon glowed, illuminating the path to darkness.

Eliana received a phone call.

"Hello?" Eliana answered.

Vinzo's low voice sent shivers.

"Miss me?"

Eliana's anger flared.

"Stop calling me."

Vinzo's chuckle echoed.

"Can't resist."

Eliana hung up.

Vinzo reappeared outside her window.

Eliana gasped.

"How did you...?"

Vinzo's smile gleamed.

"Surprises await."

Eliana's fear turned to determination.

"I'll report you."

Vinzo's eyes sparkled.

"Try."

Eliana grabbed her phone.

"911, what's your emergency?" the operator asked.

"I'm being stalked," Eliana replied, trying to stay calm.

Vinzo's eyes crinkled at the corners as he listened.

"Describe the stalker," the operator requested.

"Tall, dark hair, piercing eyes... always wearing black," Eliana said.

Vinzo's smile widened.

"Sounds like a handsome devil," he whispered.

Eliana spun around, but Vinzo was gone.

"Ma'am, did you hear me?" the operator asked.

"Yes... sorry. I think he's gone."

The operator assured Eliana officers would arrive soon.

Vinzo reappeared inside Eliana's apartment.

"You shouldn't have done that," Vinzo said, his voice low.

Eliana's eyes widened.

"How are you doing this?"

Vinzo's gaze intensified.

"You'll learn soon enough."

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Police," a voice called out.

Vinzo vanished.

Eliana opened the door, relieved to see two officers.

"Come in," Eliana said.

Officer Jenkins surveyed the apartment.

"Ma'am, can you describe the stalker?" Officer Rodriguez asked.

Eliana hesitated.

"Tall, dark hair, piercing eyes... always wearing black."

Officer Jenkins nodded.

"We'll increase patrols. Did he threaten you?"

Eliana shuddered.

"Not exactly... but his presence unnerves me."

Vinzo watched from the shadows, listening.

"We'll do our best to catch him," Officer Rodriguez reassured.

As the officers left, Vinzo stepped forward.

"You shouldn't have involved them," Vinzo said, his voice low.

Eliana stood firm.

"Leave me alone."

Vinzo's gaze lingered.

"I'll leave... for now."

Vinzo vanished into the night.

Eliana exhaled, feeling temporary relief.

But a note on her counter caught her attention:

"I'll always find you."

Eliana's hands trembled.

"Oh God, he was here."

She dialed the police.

"Officer Jenkins, it's Eliana. He left a note."

"Stay calm, ma'am. We'll send someone over."

Eliana paced, anxious.

How does he keep getting in?

The doorbell rang.

Officer Rodriguez entered with a colleague.

"Let's take a look," he said.

Eliana handed him the note.

"This isn't obsession; it's fixation," Officer Rodriguez said.

Eliana's eyes widened.

"What does that mean?"

"Means he won't stop until he has you."

Eliana shuddered.

Vinzo watched from afar, expression unreadable.

As the officers left, Eliana's phone rang.

"Hello?" Eliana answered.

"You're making this difficult," Vinzo's low voice said.

Eliana's grip tightened.

"Leave me alone."

Vinzo chuckled.

"I'll make you an offer: dinner, tonight, 8 PM."

Eliana scoffed.

"Never."

Vinzo's tone turned cold.

"Refuse, and I'll make sure the police can't protect you."

Eliana's heart skipped a beat.

"How will you—"

Vinzo hung up.

Eliana dialed Officer Rodriguez.

"Vinzo called again. He's threatening—"

"Stay calm, ma'am. We'll increase protection."

But Eliana's fear grew.

At 8 PM, Eliana received a delivery.

A black dress, with a note:

"Change. I'll be waiting."
