Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

 The Siege of Valascar

Commander Prime Zalstar emerged from the portal with urgency, his eyes scanning the grand Valascar chamber. The crystalline walls, usually a symbol of stability and strength, trembled as explosions echoed from outside. Energy blasts crackled through the sky, painting the horizon with bursts of blue and red.

"Your Highness!" Zalstar's voice cut through the din, commanding immediate attention. Princess Nolreth, standing in her battle robes, spun around to face him, eyes sharp with determination. Beside her, Brafur stood with clenched fists, tension coiling his muscular frame.

"What is happening, Zalstar?" Nolreth demanded, the calm veneer of her voice betrayed by the flicker of unease in her red eyes.

"The Chiantan forces have breached our perimeter. Podrin, Danti, and Maria lead the assault. We must retreat now," Zalstar said, urgency lacing every word.

A deafening roar outside heralded the arrival of the Chiantan forces. Like crimson comets, Danti and Podrin streaked across the sky, their forms radiating kinetic energy. Maria followed, her golden locks catching the reflected glow of destruction as they sent blasts that shattered the great spires of the Valascar capital.

Brafur's eyes flared with fury. "We cannot abandon our people!"

Nolreth placed a steady hand on his arm, though her gaze never wavered from Zalstar. "Explain, Commander."

"Trust me," Zalstar said, locking eyes with the princess. "If we do not leave now, everything is lost. I will rally our remaining forces, but you must escape to safety with the soldiers that remain loyal. We cannot let the Chiantan learn the locations of the red sand worlds."

Before they could respond, the room was engulfed in a blinding light. The trio shielded their eyes as Danti's laughter rang out, reverberating like a cruel melody. He hovered outside the shattered window, eyes gleaming with savage delight.

"There you are," Danti said, hurling a kinetic blast that shattered the walls.

"Go!" Zalstar shouted, summoning a force field to deflect the energy. Nolreth and Brafur exchanged one last look, a moment of silent understanding, before stepping through the portal with a million Valascar soldiers, their forms vanishing into the void.

The Battle Unleashed

The battle raged across the Valascar capital, warriors soaring through space, their forms silhouetted against the burning backdrop of their world. Podrin, Maria, and Danti led the Chiantan onslaught, their speed unmatched as they weaved through blasts of glowing red arrows. The Valascar soldiers fought valiantly, drawing on their life dust to create arrows that homed in on their targets relentlessly.

Podrin spiraled through a formation of Valascar soldiers, unleashing kinetic blasts that sent them careening into each other. He dodged an arrow that locked onto him, its tip glistening with a deadly glow. It whistled as it closed in, but at the last moment, Danti intercepted, grabbing a nearby Chiantan warrior and using him as a shield. The arrow struck true, turning the unfortunate soldier to stone and ash.

Maria spun gracefully, her movements fluid as she hurled bursts of orange energy that erupted into dazzling explosions. The Valascar creature, summoned from deep within the capital, roared as it joined the fray. Its colossal, tentacled form lashed out, grabbing Chiantan soldiers mid-flight and crushing them. The creature's body, pulsating with red light, seemed invincible.

"Focus on the beast!" Podrin shouted, his eyes locked onto the creature's thrashing limbs. He darted forward, narrowly avoiding a strike that shattered a nearby column of floating rock.

The Devastation of the Red Sand Worlds

As the battle for the capital unfolded, Sethanel led the Chiantan forces in strategic strikes across the Valascar system. He hovered above one of the most guarded red sand planets, eyes glinting with triumph. The red sands shimmered like liquid fire under the assault of Chiantan energy blasts. The once-pristine dunes erupted into waves of destruction, the life dust igniting in a cascade of crimson and gold.

"Your secrets are no more," Sethanel whispered to himself as his forces decimated the last of the Valascar defenses on the sand worlds. He reveled in the sight, knowing that each world reduced to ashes weakened the Valascar's power.

The Commander's Betrayal and Rally

Zalstar returned to the heart of Valascar, surrounded by the remnants of their warriors. The capital, though scarred and battered, still stood as a testament to their resilience. He called for a gathering, his voice projected across every Valascar soldier within the system.

"Warriors of Valascar, today our princess has abandoned us, fled with her consort and loyalists to safety while we are left to defend what is ours. But know this: we are the true heirs of this legacy, the protectors of the creators' vision. We will not falter; we will fight until the stars themselves weep at our courage!"

The soldiers, battered and bloodied, roared their agreement. They believed in their commander, unaware of the ambition that twisted his heart. Zalstar's smile was hidden beneath the shadow of his helm as he thought, With the king and queen gone, and Nolreth's cowardice revealed, Valascar will need a new leader—one they can trust.

The Final Battle: The Capital Stand

The last great battle took place in the void above Valascar's capital, a maelstrom of energy and raw power. The Chiantan forces, led by Podrin, Danti, and Maria, charged forward, their movements blurs of crimson light. The Valascar warriors met them, arrows streaking through space, curving to pursue their targets like predatory birds.

Podrin barreled toward a group of Valascar archers, energy coursing through his veins. He unleashed a burst of purple energy, the blast powerful enough to disintegrate the attackers in seconds. But a red arrow targeted him, curving through space with deadly intent. He spun, eyes widening as it closed in, but Danti intercepted, tossing another Chiantan warrior into its path. The arrow struck, and the sacrificial soldier turned to dust.

The creature summoned by the Valascar fought on, its tentacles sweeping through enemy ranks. Maria darted beneath it, a blur of gold, and sent a concentrated beam into its exposed underbelly. The creature shuddered, limbs flailing wildly, before a final pulse of energy from Podrin finished it.

"Push forward!" Maria's voice was fierce as they breached the last line of Valascar defense.

The Capture of the Commander Prime

Zalstar fought with unmatched ferocity, his living shield absorbing blast after blast. He met Sethanel amidst the chaos, their eyes locking in silent challenge. The clash was brutal—Sethanel's anti-matter blade struck with unerring precision, while Zalstar's arrows deflected and countered with deadly speed. But Sethanel was relentless, each strike pushing the commander back until his defense faltered.

"You are finished, Zalstar," Sethanel declared, driving his sword into the commander's side. Zalstar gasped, blood flecking his lips as he fell to one knee.

The remaining Valascar forces hesitated, their morale crumbling as their leader was brought low. Sethanel's voice rang out, commanding and cold. "Take him. Let Valascar witness the fall of their would-be king."

Chains forged from anti-matter energy wrapped around Zalstar, binding him as he was dragged from the battlefield. The sight broke the resolve of the Valascar, and the capital fell into Chiantan control.

Aftermath

The Chiantan forces hovered above the battered planet, victorious. Sethanel surveyed the ruined expanse, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Valascar is no more," he murmured, a smile twisting his lips as he looked toward the stars, where Nolreth and her followers had vanished. But you will not escape for long.
