Chapter 51: Kael's past 2
Kael's POV :
Memories of my past lingered, like an open wound. The night I left the Order of the White Oak, abandoning my duty as a warrior-priest... The weight of my betrayal still haunted me.
Niamh's POV:
I watched Kael from the shadows, his eyes scanning the room with a mixture of caution and curiosity. Our past was complicated, bound by secrets and shared experiences.
As I slipped away, I couldn't help but think of the prophecy and Ava's role in it. The threads of fate were tangled, and I feared the consequences of our actions.
I made my way to the designated meeting point, a secluded glade outside the village. Kael arrived soon after, his eyes narrowing as he approached me.
"Niamh, what's going on?" he asked, his voice low.
I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "The prophecy, Kael... it's not just about Ava. There are other players involved, forces that could tip the balance either way."
Kael's expression turned skeptical. "What forces?"
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "The ancient magic, Kael... it's not just a simple power source. It's a key to unlocking the secrets of the past."
Kael's eyes locked onto mine, a spark of understanding igniting within them.
"The ancient magic," he whispered. "I remember the stories. It's said to hold the power of the gods."
I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "That's true. But it's also said to come with a terrible cost. One that could destroy everything we hold dear."
Kael's face paled, his eyes haunted by the memories of his past.
"Niamh, what do you know about my past?" he asked, his voice laced with a mix of fear and curiosity.
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But something in Kael's eyes told me that he was ready to face the truth.
"Kael, you were once a part of the Order of the White Oak," I said, my voice gentle. "You were one of their most skilled warriors. But something happened, something that made you leave the Order and abandon your duty as a warrior-priest."
Kael's eyes flashed with anger, but I continued, my voice unwavering.
"You've been running from your past for a long time, Kael. But it's time to face the truth. You can't keep hiding from who you once were."
Kael's face twisted in a mixture of pain and anger, but I could see the faintest glimmer of understanding in his eyes.
