Chapter 48: Aftermath
As the dust settled, we surveyed the aftermath of the battle. Eirlys lay still, her sacrifice etched in our minds.
The darkness receded, revealing the artifacts still glowing with pent-up energy. The ritual, interrupted by the Order's attack, remained incomplete.
"Ava, we need to tend to your injuries," Elaena said, concern etched on her face.
I nodded, feeling the weight of Eirlys' loss. "She shouldn't have died like this." I said sadly
"Aethera, can you sense any residual dark magic?" Kael asked.
Aethera's eyes scanned the area. "The Order's magic is dissipating, but I sense... something. A hidden thread, waiting to be pulled."
Lyrien's grip on his sword tightened. "We'll investigate. Ensure the Order doesn't regroup."
As we regrouped, I realized my magic felt... different. Unsettled.
"Aethera, what's happening to my magic?" I asked.
Aethera's expression turned thoughtful. "Your connection to the ancient magic is evolving. We'll need to adjust your training."
Training Session 6: Magical Adaptation
Aethera guided me through exercises to adapt to my shifting magic. I struggled to control the unpredictable surges.
"This will take time, Ava," Aethera cautioned. "Patience and focus are key."
Days passed, and our group remained vigilant, anticipating the Order's next move.
