Chapter 20: Ava is Taken
Third person POV
The night was bathed in an eerie silence, the moon casting an ominous glow over the Moon Whispers Pack's territory. The pack slumbered, unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows.
Cassius, the cunning vampire leader, stood atop a ridge, his eyes fixed on the pack's den. His loyalists fanned out, awaiting his signal.
"Tonight, we take Ava," Cassius whispered, his voice carried by the wind. "Ensure Kael's alive, but weakened. The wolfsbane will see to that."
With a nod, his vampires descended upon the sleeping pack like specters.
Ava's peaceful slumber shattered as Kael's anguished roar pierced the night. She bolted upright, her heart racing.
"Kael!" she screamed, her voice echoing through the forest.
Vampires swarmed their den, their fangs bared. A needle flashed in the moonlight, piercing Kael's neck.
"Wolfsbane," a vampire sneered, as Kael's strength began to wane.
"Ava, run!" Kael whispered, his voice fading.
But it was too late. Vampires dragged Ava away, leaving Kael helpless and enraged.
As the darkness swallowed Ava whole, Kael's vision blurred. His pack, his love – all slipping away.
Sabine's voice echoed through the night, her words dripping with malice. "Cassius awaits, Ava. Welcome to your new home."
Ava's eyes blazed defiance, but fear crept in. "My pack will come for me," she spat.
Cassius smiled, his fangs glinting. "I'm counting on it."
The night had just begun, and the battle for Ava's soul had already commenced.
