Ugh! I'm so sick of the way they treat me! Marianne thinks angrily as she shoves some jeans into her suitcase. It's like they think I'm their slave or something!! Stupid brothers, stupid Dad! Stupid Mom for leaving! The jeans are quickly followed some skirts, blouses and dresses. All thrown in angrily.
"Well. I won't stand for it any longer." Marianne whispers to herself, pushing her long golden hair over her shoulder as she sits back on her heels with a huff. I'm running away, and there's nothing any of them can do to stop me. Since I'm 'just a girl', they won't expect me to be serious. Marianne huffs again, then quickly stands up and sneaks into the garage, her room positioned right across from it. I'm pulling some non-perishables off the shelf when my Father opens the door.
"Marianne... What ridiculous thing has your tiny female brain concocted now?" He asks in a harsh tone, raising an eyebrow at her as he leans against the door. I turn to face him, the food clutched in my arms. Marianne has always looked exactly like her mother and the likeness always makes him flinch. This time is no different.
"I'm leaving." Marianne tells him, her voice cool and professional. Her green eyes clash with his brown. As she brushes past him he grabs her arm.
"Vivi-" Her Father stops himself before he says Marianne's mothers' name and lets go of her arm and sets his jaw, scoffing. "Yeah right. You wouldn't last a day out there, you're only a woman after all."
"He's right y'know." Marianne's older brother, Charles interjects laughing with her two younger brothers. Marianne says nothing, merely lowers her head and rushes past them into her room, slamming the door so hard it rattles. Her anger only fuels their laughter.
"That's it! I'm getting out of this h*llhole. Those jackas*es" Marianne whispers determinedly, putting the food and an extra jacket in her suitcase then slamming it closed. Marianne prepares, putting on her hooded cloak, gloves, and boots, (They're very stylish, but still good enough to run in.) waiting until her family falls asleep. Once she is sure her family is asleep, she grabs her book bag and wallet, then picks her suitcase up by the handle and creeps out of the house. Marianne turns to take one last look at the only home she's ever known, and runs away as fast as she possibly can.
The next morning, Marianne's brothers come to wake her in the way they usually do, by dumping their laundry on her. But to their surprise she's not there and they drop their baskets, eyes widening, they run to their father. They relay the knees but their Father doesn't seem to care. At that moment, the youngest, Sebastian, realizes the only true Mother figure he's ever known... Is gone; and all because of their actions.
