When Xu Feng woke up and the situation was explained, Tan Lili immediately got a scolding from Xu Feng's parents that left her fuming. Not daring to lash out in front of them, she stormed off to confront Su Hang.
Furious, Tan Lili marched up to Su Hang and, without a word, raised her hand to slap him across the face.
Her anger was through the roof. Sure, she and Su Hang had once dated, but to her, it was just a childish fling, a phase of playing house. After starting college and seeing the wider world—with so many handsome, charming guys around—it was obvious. Even a fool would know to choose someone better.
After entering university, she quickly forgot about Su Hang, especially when Xu Feng came into her life. Compared to Xu Feng—handsome and rich—Su Hang was nothing more than a nobody.
But what she never expected was Su Hang's persistence. After three years of intense studying, he not only got into the same university as her but even clashed with Xu Feng. And now, he had seriously injured Xu Feng, leaving him possibly infertile. To Tan Lili, this wasn't just about hurting Xu Feng—it was about destroying her happiness and her future.
If she didn't slap Su Hang today, she wouldn't feel satisfied.
Yet just as her hand was about to land on his face, it stopped mid-air. Her wrist was caught in a firm grip. Looking up, she saw it was Su Hang.
His hand felt like a steel clamp. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't budge it an inch.
"Ah, that hurts!"
Tan Lili gasped, struggling to pull her hand free. When she finally managed to, she cradled her wrist, her furious expression now replaced with one of pain.
"You're crazy! How dare you try to hit someone? Want me to slap you instead?" Shuai Yu, standing nearby, immediately erupted in anger.
Tan Lili wasn't having it. She glared at him and yelled back, "You fat idiot! This is between him and me. Mind your own business and get lost!"
" What the fuck?" Shuai Yu's eyes widened, clearly unbothered by the fact Tan Lili was a woman. He raised his hand, ready to strike.
Tan Lili froze in fear. With her delicate face, a slap from Shuai Yu could easily knock out half her teeth.
Before things escalated, Su Hang stepped forward, pulling Shuai Yu back. He looked Tan Lili in the eye. "You're not the person you used to be, and neither am I. From now on, we go our separate ways. You leave me alone, and I'll do the same for you."
Tan Lili stood there, stunned. She watched as Su Hang walked away, his tone calm and his words final, leaving her behind with nothing but his confident, carefree back.
"Su Hang, you're just a poor country boy! What are you trying to prove? Let me tell you, you're in big trouble this time. You'll regret this, sooner or later!" she screamed, her voice tinged with hysteria. She thinks she is a noble peacock, really can not stand Su Hang just eyes and tone.
Su Hang didn't even turn around, as if he hadn't heard a thing. Instead, Shuai Yu turned back briefly and flipped her off with a middle finger.
"Man, that girl is beyond saving! Su Hang, you're lucky she didn't cling to you. You dodged a major bullet there" Shuai Yu grumbled as they walked out of the school gates.
Su Hang smiled faintly and said nothing. Just now, he realized he no longer had any feelings for Tan Lili. A woman like her wasn't worth his time or love. One word to sum her up: shallow.
As they reached the gates, a car slowly pulled up and stopped. The door opened, and a stunning figure stepped out.
Dressed in sunglasses and a short skirt, with a face like a perfectly carved sculpture, the woman instantly drew everyone's attention.
"Hey! What a coincidence!" Qin Shiyu called out from a distance, removing her sunglasses to reveal a radiant smile.
"Is it really a coincidence?" Su Hang grinned, walking up to her. "Feels more like you've been waiting here for a while."
His eyes lingered on the car. Su Hang wasn't familiar with car brands, but its sleek, pure-white body gave off a luxurious vibe. It seemed Qin Shiyu was quite well-off. Maybe Shuai Yu knew more.
"Didn't you see me just drive up?" Qin Shiyu protested.
"Who knows where you drove from? For all we know, you've been parked nearby, waiting to 'coincidentally' bump into us," Shuai Yu joked with a grin.
"Watch out!" Qin Shiyu playfully scolded him, pretending to hit him.
Shuai Yu chuckled and asked, "No classes today? What brings you to our school? Don't tell me you came to see Su Hang!"
This guy spoke without filter. They'd only met once. How could anyone jump to such conclusions? Su Hang wasn't the type to get cocky. A girl like Qin Shiyu—beautiful and clearly from a wealthy family—was unlikely to fall for a poor kid from the countryside like him.
"I don't have any classes this afternoon. My mom asked me to take some medicine to my grandpa, so I thought I'd stop by and check on you guys!" Qin Shiyu explained, her tone shifting to excitement as she turned to Su Hang. "Guess what? I told my grandpa about you yesterday, and he didn't believe me when I said someone could eat 100 Baozi in one sitting. He thought I was joking! He wants you to come over sometime and prove it."
Seriously? Su Hang felt speechless. Did she think of him as some kind of circus act?
"Meeting the family already? Isn't that a bit soon?" Su Hang teased with mock seriousness.
"What are you thinking about?"
Qin Shiyu was caught between amusement and exasperation, reaching out as if to pinch him. Su Hang quickly dodged. Shuai Yu, on the other hand, dramatically covered his eyes. "Oh no, I can't watch this! Flirting in front of me—have some decency!"
"Do you need to a beating?my fat cousin!" Qin Shiyu's face reddened as she turned her attention to him.
Shuai Yu quickly surrendered with an awkward laugh, changing the subject. "What's wrong with Grandpa?"
"Oh, the usual. He's getting old, frail, and his rheumatism is acting up again. He couldn't even get out of bed today. Mom asked me to buy him some plasters. Honestly, Grandpa spoils you so much, and you don't even care. What kind of grandson are you?" Qin Shiyu scolded Shuai Yu, wagging her finger.
Shuai Yu scratched his head, looking sheepish. "Fine, fine. There's a big pharmacy nearby. Let's go grab some medicine."
"You're too late. I already bought it. It's in the car," Qin Shiyu rolled her eyes.
"Well… uh…" Shuai Yu fumbled. "How about we find something to eat, then?"
"Let's go to my house. Grandpa would love to see Su Hang's legendary appetite in action," Qin Shiyu said, her excitement bubbling over.
Su Hang hesitated. "I think we should save that for another time."
"What? You're rejecting my invitation? I was being sincere!" Qin Shiyu said, visibly surprised. No guy had ever turned her down before.
