Chapter 16 - The Last Test

The anticipation of his final test loomed over Caius for the rest of the week. Each day was filled with a mix of excitement and anxiety as he prepared for what lay ahead. He trained rigorously with Bennet and the other Panthers, sharpening his skills and learning everything he could about their operations to make sure he wouldn't be caught surprised at the last test.

The weekend arrived, and Caius found himself standing outside The Panther's Den, the cool night air filled with the hum of anticipation. He took a deep breath and stepped inside, ready to face his final challenge.

Bonkin and the other Panthers were waiting for him, their expressions serious. The room was charged with a sense of purpose, and Caius could feel the weight of their expectations.

"Welcome, Caius," Bonkin said, his voice steady. "Tonight is your final test. If you pass, you will become a full member of the Panthers."

Caius nodded, his heart pounding with determination. "I'm ready."

Bonkin gestured for Caius to follow him, and the group made their way to a hidden back room. Inside, a large table was covered with various tools and maps. Bonkin pointed to a map of the city, detailing a specific location on the Northside.

"Your final test is an infiltration combined with turf tagging and smuggling mission," Bonkin explained. "There's a warehouse on the Northside that's being used by the Phantoms to store illegal goods. We need you to get inside, put our logo, the panther, everywhere you can, and take the goods back to us. It's risky, but we believe you have what it takes."

Caius studied the map, memorizing the layout and the key points of entry. "I'll do it."

Bennet clapped him on the back, his smile encouraging. "Good luck, Caius. I'm sure you will succeed."

As Caius left The Panther's Den, he felt excitement. This was his chance to prove himself once and for all. This was the chance for him to follow in his grandma and dad's footsteps. He rode his father's motorcycle through the quiet streets, the city bathed in the glow of streetlights.

Reaching the Northside, Caius parked his bike a few blocks away from the warehouse. He approached the building cautiously, keeping to the shadows as he assessed the situation. The warehouse was heavily guarded, with Phantoms patrolling the perimeter.

Caius took a deep breath, steeling himself for the task ahead. He waited for the right moment, then slipped past the guards, his movements silent and precise. Inside, the warehouse was filled with crates and barrels, the air thick with the scent of contraband.

Carefully, Caius moved through the shadows, his eyes scanning for anything of importance. He found a stack of documents detailing shipments and transactions, and he quickly photographed them with his phone. He spray-painted a panther every place he went through. And for the last task, he went a little deeper hoping to find something the Panthers would be happy with. As he entered the last room he couldn't believe his eyes.

'A motorcycle! And not any It's brand new. I'm sure Bonkin wouldn't mind me taking this for myself. I will give him all the drugs I found' Caius thought with a smile. He quickly pocketed all the drugs he found and sat on the motorcycle.

'These idiots left the keys on'

Caius quickly started to think about an escape plan.

Caius knew he had to act fast. The Phantoms could return at any moment, and he needed to get the motorcycle and the drugs out of there without drawing attention. His mind raced as he formulated a plan.

He decided to create a diversion. Caius took a small crate from a nearby stack and positioned it in the center of the room. He then grabbed a few empty cans and bottles, setting them up so that they would create noise if disturbed. Satisfied with his makeshift distraction, he mounted the motorcycle and started the engine, keeping it as quiet as possible.

As he navigated the bike out of the room, Caius nudged the crate, sending the cans and bottles clattering to the ground. The noise echoed through the warehouse, drawing the attention of the guards. Taking advantage of the chaos, Caius accelerated, weaving through the corridors and out into the open.

The warehouse door burst open as Caius sped out, his heart pounding with adrenaline. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing the Phantoms scrambling to figure out what had happened. He pushed the motorcycle to its limits, racing through the streets with the contraband securely in his possession.

Caius navigated the winding streets, his mind focused on getting back to The Panther's Den. He had no time to waste and no room for error. The roar of the motorcycle's engine filled the night air as he sped towards his destination.

As he approached The Panther's Den, Caius felt a surge of relief and pride. He had done it—he had completed the mission and proven his loyalty to the Panthers. He parked the motorcycle outside and quickly made his way inside, the contraband tucked safely in his jacket.

The Panthers were waiting for him, their expressions a mix of curiosity and anticipation. Bonkin stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of Caius.

"Well?" Bonkin asked, his voice steady.

Caius pulled the contraband from his jacket, handing it over to Bonkin. "I got the drugs and tagged the place. And... I found this," he said, gesturing to the motorcycle outside.

Bonkin's eyes widened in surprise, a rare smile breaking through his usual stoic expression. "You did more than we asked. Impressive."

The room erupted in cheers and applause, and Caius felt a surge of pride. He had passed the final test, and he was now a full member of the Panthers.

Bonkin clapped Caius on the back, his voice filled with approval. "Welcome to the Panthers, Caius. You've earned your place." Bonkin took out a Panther's jacket and handed It to him. As Caius started to wear the jacket Bonkin shouted "Panthers! We have a new brother!"

As the night wore on and the celebration continued, Caius couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. He had found his place, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead with his newfound family.
