ALBERT POV
It was Ashley, standing there with her hands in her pants pockets. "How long have you been standing there?" I asked, my voice a mix of surprise and irritation.
"For a larger part of the conversation," she replied nonchalantly.
I frowned. "Where's Nora?" I asked
"Your father wanted to talk to her alone," Ashley answered calmly.
I started to head back inside, worry etched on my face. Ashley grabbed my arm, stopping me. "You don't need to go back in," Ashley said, "They're probably done with the discussion by now. It's better to just ask Nora herself."
I snorted in disgust, the frustration bubbling up inside me. There was a brief silence, the night air thick with tension.
After a brief silence, Ashley asked, "Is she the one?"
"Who are you talking about?" I replied.
"Don't play dumb, Albert." she said, glancing pointedly at my phone.
