Amelia trudged through the rain-soaked streets, exhausted after her long shift at the café. Suddenly, a sleek black car splashed water onto her, drenching her clothes.
"Watch where you're going!" Amelia shouted, furious.
The car door swung open, and a tall, chiseled figure emerged.
"Sorry, love. We didn't see you," he said, his deep voice smooth but condescending.
Amelia glared. "Just apologize and drive off."
He smiled, flashing perfect teeth. "I am sorry. But you're drenched. Let me give you a ride."
Amelia hesitated, then accepted. As they drove, he introduced himself as Ryan.
"I'm Amelia," she replied, trying to sound calm.
Ryan's eyes lingered on hers. "I am so sorry, my assistant did not see you standing there earlier.
"That's okay"
What do you do, Amelia?"
"I work at a café," she said, feeling self-conscious.
Ryan nodded. "I know the one. Best coffee in town."
Amelia smiled, surprised. "You've been there?"
"Once or twice," Ryan said, his smile hinting at more.
As they approached Amelia's apartment, Ryan asked for her number.
"In case I need to make it up to you," he said, his eyes sparkling.
Amelia hesitated, then handed over her phone. Ryan's fingers brushed against hers.
A shiver ran down Amelia's spine.
"Thanks for the ride," Amelia said, getting out.
Ryan leaned over, his voice low. "I'll see you again, Amelia."
Amelia felt a flutter in her chest as she watched Ryan's car drive away.
"What just happened? Who is this guy? And why do I feel like I've just been swept up in a tornado?" she wondered.
Meanwhile, Ryan thought, "She's different. Feisty, beautiful, and completely unaware of my world. I need to see her again."
Amelia changed into dry clothes, replaying the encounter. She couldn't shake off the feeling that Ryan was hiding something.
Her phone buzzed.
"Feeling better?" Ryan texted.
"Yeah. Thanks."
"Good. I'll make it up to you soon."
Amelia's heart skipped a beat.
At his mansion, Ryan's assistant, Mark, walked behind him.
"Sir, you have a meeting tomorrow at 9."
Ryan nodded. "Prepare the reports."
Mark hesitated. "Sir, about the contract with..."
Ryan's expression turned cold. "What about it?"
"Nothing, sir."
Ryan's eyes narrowed. "Mark, is there something I should know?"
"No, sir."
Amelia scrolled through social media and found Ryan's profile.
Billionaire entrepreneur. Philanthropist.
The photos showcased his lavish lifestyle.
Amelia's eyes widened.
"Who is this guy?"
She texted Evelyn.
"Hey! Guess who just gave me a ride?"
"Who?" Evelyn replied.
"Ryan Charles Cuthbert!"
Evelyn responded quickly.
"THE Ryan Charles Cuthbert?! Holy cow!"
Amelia laughed. "Yeah…what have I gotten myself into?".
