Genius, that's what I was called during that time. Genius, that's what I was called when I went there. Genius, that's what I was called everywhere. But where is "there"? Does it exist, or did I subconsciously make it up to make myself feel... good? Good? What even is "good"? I don't know. I can't remember... Where am I? I don't know. What do I remember? Ah, it's because of them I remember—it's because of all of them. The day of Omniversion, they called it…
It turned humanity upside down. No, it's more accurate to say... it switched our very dimensions. What does that even mean? Ahh, what's this feeling? It feels like information is being downloaded into my mind. Is this the first time I've used this? Or was it always... within me?
These thoughts fill my mind as I finally open my eyes to find myself lying in a bleak, empty flat. I look out the cracked window—the world is the same as I left it before sleeping… in ruin. In fact, it's worse. But that's to be expected; it's been three hours since it happened.
The Calamity. Some called it Kalki, the End of the World. The ones who caused it, or rather the ones who appeared after it, called it The Day of Omniversion.
I had been standing in front of Piccadilly Circus in London, pretending to celebrate with "friends." Not that I cared for them. It was simply easier to blend into society with a social group, so I allowed them to orbit me. Though I never truly cared for them.
It was midnight. The clock struck twelve, and as the year 2025 began, the earth trembled—violently, like a ball in a child's careless grasp. Buildings collapsed. People screamed and ran. The sky opened up with a blinding blue light that grew larger and larger, consuming the night until it descended to earth like a star. When it touched the ground, it compressed into a strange, fluffy white creature. It had two legs, two arms, two eyes, no nose, and a mouth twisted into a smile. It almost looked human. Almost.
It called itself a member of a race known as the Streamers. Its name was Domin.
When Domin spoke, its voice had an odd, childish quality, as though mocking us with false innocence. It was surreal—a creature of nightmares posing as something benign. One might have thought it was a comedy show, and so did the crowd—until they realized the horror they faced. My "friends" laughed nervously, attempting to mask their fear. Then, one by one, they began to speak, and as they did, their bodies... exploded. Organs and blood splattered across the pavement, staining Piccadilly Circus as though some dark ritual had been performed. The air smelled of iron and fear.
People screamed, trembling, while I stood, expressionless, staring at Domin, dissecting his every movement, analyzing him. What was he? What was the best course of action? But without knowledge, any action could be a death sentence.
Domin looked around and, in a voice too cheery for the scene he'd created, said, "It's too dirty, no? Let me fix that." He waved his hand, and in an instant, all the blood and gore evaporated into thin air, as if it had never existed.
I glanced at Domin, watching as others clutched each other, whispering tearfully. I felt nothing. Not fear. Not sadness. Not even disgust. If anything, I felt a twisted hunger—a deep, primal greed. Power. I wanted that power. To control, to make the world obey. In a normal world, I would have had to maneuver through long political games, sabotage, deceit. But now, everything had changed. The previous powers held no influence here.
All I felt was pure, consuming greed. I wanted them, the Streamers, to serve me. To be more powerful than them. I'll do anything for that.
Domin spoke again. "Now, let me explain your current circumstances." He chuckled, his eyes glittering with amusement. "I'm sure you're all confused. Understandable. What's happened is that Earth has reached its... let's call it 'free trial period.'" Domin's grin widened as he looked around. "The Earth shall now be integrated into the Omniversal Universe. This isn't just the third dimension, mind you—this is the fourth and fifth dimensions. But I won't bore you with explanations your kind cannot grasp."
Domin pointed at himself. "I am part of the Omniversal Tube, where all of you shall be... broadcasted." His tone grew more playful. "You now have the chance to gain abilities, powers, fame, sponsorships, and the most powerful title: becoming an apostle. All social standings, all earthly wealth and titles are meaningless now. You'll have a currency known as Coins, and a system to surpass your feeble human limits."
Coins. System. His words stirred something within me.
Domin continued, "Your world is now attuned to Magical Energy, what you might call... dark matter. You will learn about the system as you grow. We call this event The Day of Omniversion. Now, say System, to access it and see the gift bestowed upon your world." With a final gleam in his eyes, Domin added, "Goodbye."
In a flash of white light, he vanished.
The crowd around me began muttering, hesitant and wary. No one wanted to trust this strange being, yet fear kept them silent. They were like sheep. Domin had said they were Streamers, so the System would likely be designed for "content." For that reason alone, the System could be useful. The world is watching, and there's value in keeping us alive—for now.
I took a steady breath and said, "System."
In front of me, a faint blue screen materialized, translucent and hovering in the air.
So this is it... The screen displayed options: Status, Shop, Sponsorship.
First, I selected Status, and two notifications appeared in front of me: Advancement: You are the first Human to open System, +100 Coins. Advancement: You are the first Human to open Status, +50 Coins.
Intrigued, I quickly navigated back and selected Shop, hoping for another reward. Nothing. Then I chose Sponsorship, and another message popped up: Advancement: You are the first Human to open Sponsorship, +50 Coins.
I glanced around. People stood in various states of shock, their eyes fixed on invisible screens, their hands moving as if tapping on unseen tablets. A flicker of light caught my attention, drawing my gaze back to my own Status window.
The display read:
Name: (Choose)
I considered it for a moment, then said, "Vibe."
Name: Vibe
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Class: (Unlocks under specific conditions; requires level 10)
Trait: Based on the user's personality, character, and desires within the depths of the heart
1) Greed (F): You desire everything yet feel nothing when those around you fall. You are the epitome of Greed. To acquire what others possess, you must first understand their strength. This trait allows you to view the Status of anyone up to ten levels higher than you. This skill will evolve as you progress.
I stared at it. Greed, perfectly embodied, lay before me.
Other traits remained locked, their presence hidden. I scrolled down to find the Halo section:
Halo: Locked (Based on class, unlocks under specific conditions)
Stats appeared below:
Strength: 5
Agility: 7
Endurance: 7
Vitality: 6
Sense: 8
Charm: 9
Magical Energy: 8
Intelligence: -
Error: Unable to measure intelligence. This stat will be removed.
Error? Intelligence cannot be measured? I felt nothing—not concern, not pride, only a silent acknowledgment of what it meant. If I can't feel fear, or anger, or joy, then my only desire remains... to conquer. Whoever designed me this way… they, too, will kneel.
A new stat appeared at the bottom:
Brain Speed (BS): 10
Note: The average stats of a human male are 5.
I studied my profile with a flicker of satisfaction. I was already above the average human, equipped with the only thing that mattered in this new world: power.
