Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: The Black Long Straight Hair in the Youth League Committee

"Li Zhen Nan? Who's that?"

Yu Yueping turned around, thinking there was another student named "Li Zhen Nan" behind him, apart from himself and Chen Han Sheng.

Guan Shuman was taken aback: "The person next to you is Li Zhen Nan?"

She had a distinct memory of "Li Zhen Nan." Despite being young, he was quite skilled in flirting with women, always making remarks like "a hungry ghost in the realm of lust," playing the "carrot and stick" game to perfection.

Yu Yueping looked at Chen Han Sheng in confusion. Just as things were about to go wrong, Chen Han Sheng kept his cool and calmly responded to Guan Shuman: "Teacher Guan, you must be mistaken. I'm Chen Han Sheng, the class leader of Public Administration Class 2, vice minister of the External Liaison Department in the Humanities Department, and an applicant for the University's Student Entrepreneurship Support Project."

"Oh, is that so?" Guan Shuman replied, somewhat skeptical.

Chen Han Sheng confirmed, "That night, when I saw you alone at the Activity Center adjusting equipment, I, as a diligent student leader, thought it best to help out."

"Everything else is correct, but when you introduced yourself, didn't you say Li Zhen Nan?" Guan Shuman asked with a furrowed brow.

"No, I said Chen Han Sheng," he firmly asserted.

Yu Yueping, now understanding, smiled and said, "Teacher Guan often handles student council matters, meeting so many student leaders daily. It's easy to get confused."

Chen Han Sheng nodded in agreement, pretending that it was indeed a mistake on Guan Shuman's part.

Guan Shuman nodded knowingly. She realized that the boy in front of her was the one who had flirted with her. However, with Yu Yueping still present, she decided to let it slide for the moment, and with a smile, asked, "So, is there any instruction from Secretary Yu?"

"No specific instructions," Yu Yueping replied, hands behind his back and stomach sticking out. "Recently, we've had the 50th anniversary celebration and debate competitions. I've seen you running around nonstop. Why not have Chen help with some work in the Youth League?"

He pointed to Chen Han Sheng. "He's great at coordinating and has a lot of patience. I recommend him to take on some of the Youth League tasks."

"Of course, the decision is yours," he added with a smirk.

Chen Han Sheng thought to himself that Yu Yueping's way of speaking was a little over the top, even somewhat excessive for someone in the finance department. If he had been any more convoluted, he might have made a good diplomat.

In the past, Yu Yueping probably wouldn't have used his own influence like this, but after seeing how Chen Han Sheng had organized the entrepreneurship center, he had started thinking differently. If Chen joined the Youth League, he'd be directly under his control, making it easier to manage things.

Yu Yueping rarely asked for anything, but now he made this request. Guan Shuman couldn't refuse outright. After thinking for a moment, she asked, "The Youth League's student sections are divided into the News Center, the Office Center, and the Supervision Center. Which one would you prefer, Chen?"

The Broadcast Station was part of the News Center. When Chen Han Sheng thought about the senior students there, especially the charming broadcast department girls, it didn't seem like a choice at all.

"I'd like to go to the News Center…" he began to say, but Guan Shuman suddenly interrupted him.

"I almost forgot, the News Center is full. The only openings are in the Office and the Supervision Center. Given your skills in coordination, I'd suggest you join the Supervision Center."

Guan Shuman clearly didn't want to put Chen in the News Center, fearing that he might create a scandal.

Yu Yueping also agreed, "The Supervision Center has a lot of power, but also great responsibility. It's a good place for you to show your abilities."

With both of them agreeing, Chen Han Sheng had no choice but to accept. He also flattered them, "As long as I can learn alongside Secretary Yu and Teacher Guan, I'm happy to go anywhere."

Thanks to this recommendation, all the usual processes like interviews, qualification checks, and public notices were skipped. Chen Han Sheng was officially appointed as a student cadre in the Supervision Center of the Youth League.

"Well, you two continue, I'll leave now," Yu Yueping said, waving as he exited the room, leaving only Chen Han Sheng and Guan Shuman inside.

"Teacher Guan, unless there's anything urgent, I'll be on my way," Chen Han Sheng said, fully aware that she had recognized him. This place was full of potential gossip, and he didn't want to linger.

He planned to go back to tease the naive Shen Youchu or chat with the sweet and proud Xiao Yu'er. He didn't need to deal with any unnecessary complications.

Although Guan Shuman was attractive—around 23 or 24 years old, with straight black hair and delicate features—Chen Han Sheng preferred to keep his distance. According to his friend Guo Shaoqiang's "scientific" rating system, she'd score above 8.5, but if he had to compare her with someone like Shang Yanyan, he'd prefer the latter. He wasn't about to marry her anyway.

However, it seemed that "black long straight" Guan Shuman wasn't so easy to dismiss. She pushed her glasses up and said, "Since you've joined the Youth League, it's time to familiarize yourself with the work." She handed him a stack of documents.

"Here are the recent reports from each department in the student union. You can go through them at the desk in front. This is also the main work of the Supervision Center."

Chen Han Sheng sighed inwardly, knowing that the entrepreneurship center still had many tasks to handle. But, with politeness, he took the papers, saying, "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to better understand the work of the Youth League."

The documents were simple, mostly requests and reports from various student unions—things like new vice minister registration forms or resignation notices from department vice ministers. With 16 departments in the finance college, each having 7 or 8 departments, and multiple vice ministers in each, Chen Han Sheng figured that Guan Shuman likely didn't have time to review all these herself. The students in the Supervision Center probably handled the work.

While flipping through the papers, he noticed his own registration form from his time as vice minister in the External Liaison Department. The next document caught his eye: "Regarding Chen Han Sheng's Unsuitability as Vice Minister of the External Liaison Department in the Humanities Department."

The signatories were Vice President of the Student Union, Hu Xiuping, and Zuo Xiaoli. The document outlined that Chen was too young, lacked experience, and had disrupted the unity of the student union after taking office, with some suspicions of misusing his powers.

The last line was a mock formality: "Please review and give instructions."

Chen Han Sheng couldn't help but think, "What a coincidence."

He carefully hid the document amidst the others, intending to address it later. But suddenly, Guan Shuman asked, "Chen, you're from Public Administration Class 2, right?"

"That's right," he answered, wondering why she was asking.

Not long after, Chen Han Sheng heard the clicking sound of Guan Shuman using the mouse, seemingly opening files and dragging them around.

Then it dawned on him—Guan Shuman was checking if there was indeed a student named "Li Zhen Nan" in the Public Administration Class 2.

What a convoluted situation! It seemed like some people really needed a dose of reality.

Just then, Guan Shuman stopped using the mouse, and Chen Han Sheng, pretending to drop his pen, bent down to pick it up, inadvertently catching a glimpse of her gaze. It seemed like she was staring at his back, her eyes filled with an implied meaning.

Realizing he had been exposed, Chen Han Sheng couldn't help but shake his head internally. It seemed that not only was "black long straight" missing a dose of reality, but also a boyfriend who could keep her grounded. How else could someone have so much free time for this?
