When Patrick got up from his bed, he thanked the butler, where after this man who was wearing a tux twisted his head, surprised about Patrick's kindness. It was his first day on the job, and his other gigs were with a bunch of rich douches.
His name was James, as displayed on his nametag. He had a slick backed hair style, looking like a real gentleman, "Good morning sire, I hope you had a thousand victories in your sleep. By the way, this is my first time on the job. With that in mind, I look forward to a prolonged healthy friendship where many laughs are shared."
Cracking a tiny laugh, Patrick walked over to James, reassuring him to be less formal.
"I appreciate your gestures dude, but call me Patrick."

JAMES THE BUTLERS POV:
When this brawny noble treated me with such kindness, it made me feel completely equal to him. His aura, the energy surrounding his kind soul was awe-inspiring. Striking me like a friendly thunder strike, he was charismatic, even more than his chill, resilient mind. Anyone that has ever spoken to him, I have a feeling they usually leave with a reminding, impactful memory that blossomed in reaction to his positive image.
I can tell he deals with things, that maybe it's all a coping mechanism for worse problems.
What I do know is that it means nothing. Whatever he's fighting with internally isn't any of my concern.
A nice guy Patrick Warp was. I've just met him, but I have a decent theory that we'll become great friends.
I know this town was just constructed, but I'm so glad I moved cities.
Though the description was a bit odd when I applied, I didn't hesitate to send my resume in.
The job had a warning online.
"This noble family is capable of high-grade sorcery; they are to not be angered because if you idiots do, we cannot guarantee your safety. Their power and status is something not even the Citen government can interfere with."
Upon seeing that, I was scared crazy! But I did need money, and honestly, I thought taking the risk to see mages would be awesome. Maybe they could change my life and teach me magic or something.
I've never tried magic, I was born and indoctrinated to avoid it at all costs because of where I lived.
Yet, honestly, I thought that was all nonsense. It was just a way to control people. A Lot of that happens where I used to live.
Another thing I'll say, why does Sir Patrick live in a gold castle? I mean it has lights and technology, but it looks nothing like a regular home in the city! Sure, you're the king but you don't live in the far past.
The inside was all teched out, it had air conditioning, lights, televisions and electronics everywhere.
It was no different from a modern home in the interior, the place was actually quite neat.
In this universe, Mages are rare among humans, some live their entire life and can't use sorcery, and its gene pool is in the millions to billions.
I never tried or attempted magic, I just kind of accepted it and lived a normal life. It wasn't really in my scope to fight and kill people as they do. I'm too much of a pacifist to do so.
But man, it would be coolest to have some powers. Now that I've grown to the age of thirty two, life is getting boring, I could die any day and I'm wasting it working for a system meant to control me.
