"How humid." I said to myself as the heat blazes my sweaty body. The temperature in this desert place is no joke. Despite all the water I am intaking, my body releases too much sweat that I have to hydrate every five minutes. Worse, monsters in this weather are more active, especially those with no fur.
The desert is wide, with lots of ruined and ancient buildings that are still standing from the past. Despite their age and appearance, the materials that were used for these ancient buildings were tough. It is not easy to break it unless you use full power to it. But not even I can keep using my entire power as it drains my energy.
Walking in the middle of nowhere, the humidity seems to be increasing more as I move forward. Damn, how hot. I wish I could have an AC… I wish I had the ability to just turn the weather into cold. I love coldness. Probably because I grew up with it after my mother's death. But cold is my friend. Everything becomes numb when you stay for too long in the cold. Everything… Whenever I feel sad or lonely, I just go out in the cold winter and let everything in me become numb to forget the pain. But not even that could not heal my pain.
As I proceeded on my journey, desert monsters appeared around me. Corpses of humans who have ventured here are scattered around the area. I don't feel bad for them. Rather, I feel sorry for their weak asses. Why venture out in danger if you can't even handle such small insects?
After fighting against a horde of monsters, I resumed my journey. The blazing heat from the sun never stops. It just keeps on increasing and increasing. Even at night, the humidity is still there. Why would everyone live here? I cannot live in this place. It is too hot. Literally, hot. But again, I cannot complain. I have to keep going. Why did Cecilia take this route anyways? What is she doing…
Then night came. Yet I still feel hot. I took off all my clothes, yet I still feel hot. I am showering with sweat all over my body. The wind made it even worse. Because it is so hot, the wind carried the heat, brushing it to my skin. Instead of cooling me down, it made me even hotter. What the… This place is hell. I hate it here. But again, I cannot complain. No use complaining. I'm just a girl though…
When the sun rose, I put on all my clothes and continued my journey. Despite my complaining, I still feel pretty good and energetic. That good long sleep that I got from Emerald City recovered most of my energy that I spent on my journey. But they ran out fast as more monsters kept appearing. I almost forgot that Ragnarok is still ongoing. But too bad, I have my own priority. Killing Cecilia is my mission. Why bother saving mankind? Did they save my mother? My kingdom? Myself? No. The world did not do anything good to me. I have to endure everything alone and to work hard in order to get back to my enemies. Now, I will watch the world burn as I stand between the edges of both sides. May the whole world burn, yet I will not care. The world watched when everything around me fell. Now I will watch as everything around it will fall.
Suddenly, a bright ray of light shone above me. I quickly moved out of the way, dodging whatever kind of attack was released to me. The earth shook with intensity as the attack struck the ground. Then, more rays of light appeared, attacking me as I went. Dodging the attacks from an unknown enemy, I searched for signs of people nearby. I found none. Then, my eyes flared in gold. Everything around me became clear. I saw them. Five signs of life. Before I could grab them through their shadows, the five attackers jumped high from the ground. Looks like they knew what I was gonna do.
Without hesitation, I released my power. The entire area became covered with shadows.
"This is my playground now." I said, but I quickly shut my mouth when a bright white fire plummeted on the shadows, burning my shadows around. I was left speechless, but I kept fighting back the white flames. For whatever reason, the flames won't die nor it won't be overtaken by my shadows.
"Your shadow is useless." A voice roared throughout the field. It sounded like a roar from a dragon. I looked around just to find no one. Then, five bright figures descended from the sky.
"What the heck are you?" I asked. The five white light figures have the shape of a human, but have no features of human at all. They are just simple.. White. Pure bright light. In their hands, they held what looked like a sword. On their backs, they have wings that blend with their appearance. "Angels?"
"No. We are much higher than that." A woman's voice roared. Looks like they don't know how to speak quietly.
"What are you then?" I asked.
"We are the Queen's Rulers. We have come from this place called Sky Castle, where higher beings like ourselves reside. We have been watching you from a distance ever since your mother's death, young Ashe. And the council has deemed you dangerous to live." They said.
"Dangerous to live you say? How funny." I said.
"Young Ashe, this Ragnarok, it was you who caused it to happen. The Black Dragon is our creation. Its purpose is to keep the two sides in check and to make sure the power is balanced between two sides. Yet you appeared. For some reason, you were able to kill the Black Dragon." Another one spoke. Again, they speak too loud. They don't know how to whisper or talk normally.
"So, what are you gonna do? Kill me?" I asked, my body ready to fight. I am not scared. I am excited. This is my first time fighting a higher being. They look creepy. But I am brimming with excitement and lust for blood.
"You are dangerous. The Queen has deemed you danger to this world. Therefore, we are here to eradicate your existence." They said and they began to make a move.
The five beings scattered around, unleashing powerful attacks towards me. Their attacks are powerful and fast. Too fast for my eyes to catch up. But despite that, I kept dodging their onslaught. I kept my shadow field active, releasing attacks from the shadows against the five beings who are floating in the sky. They think they can look down on me? I won't let that happen. I grabbed hold of one of them and plummeted him down on the ground. But his wings flapped with great force behind it, pushing my shadows away from him and myself as well. The light being unleashed a powerful blast of magic on my way, burning the shadows around it as it moves forward with a speed of light. I countered the attack with my own blast of magic. Both the shadow and light clashed, creating a powerful force of shockwave that pushed us back. The two attacks exploded, but I didn't stop. I went into close combat.
I unleashed many combos against the light being, hitting him on his spot. It feels weird hitting his body. It's like I am just hitting the air. But yet he can feel my strikes. He is getting hit. Before I could finish him off, another attack intercepted me, creating distance between us. I looked up just to see more incoming attacks on my way. I dodged every single one of them, left and right until the attack stopped. Or so I thought. The attack kept going. It just changed size from small to large.
I countered their attacks with my own, shadows and light clashing once more. Whenever our attacks make contact, they explode immediately, making it harder for us to focus on each other due to the dust that accumulated from the explosion. But I don't need to see them. I can feel them. As long as my shadow field is active, I am unstoppable.
With one last attempt to annihilate them, the entire sky was covered with darkness. A huge hand appeared from the sky, slowly crashing down towards the five beings. But a white creature appeared, stopping the hand from falling down.
"A dragon? That is not fair." I said, yet I unleashed more attacks towards them, not giving them a break.
My shadow field is still active, and the hand is fighting against the creature. To add to the problems, I am fighting five beings as powerful as I am. With no other choice left, I decided to release my friend. "Come out, serpentine!" A huge serpent appeared from the shadows. Its scales are thick and tough with green color and its eyes flared with gold, the same as mine. I don't need to order my friend. She can handle the rest. The serpentine rushed towards the five beings with great speed, knocking two of them out from the air. While she is busy dealing with two of them, I averted my focus on the three idiots whose focus is definitely on the serpent.
"I am still here you know?" My whole body was covered in shadows. The shadows resembled armor, except they are dark flames. Two sharp horns came out from my forehead, while my eyes turned into a dragon pupil while still glistering with gold. I rushed against the three of them, attacking them all at the same time. Powerful barrage of attacks combined with swordsmanship and martial arts were being exchanged to one another, showing no sign of stopping until one of us dropped dead. Despite the fatigue of my body and pain from their attacks, I kept going and going, not stopping until one fell down.
The battle lasted for a day. When night was about to come, the five beings were already tired. How can I tell? Well, when I first met them earlier, their figures were bright. Now, it is dim. Super dim. Of course, I can hear them breathing hard as well. But I am in my worst state too. After spending too much power, my body is tired and my energy has been drained. But I can't let my guard down. Not when I am fighting against five enemies.
"That's enough." One of them spoke. "The Queen wants us back." They turned around. But before they flew away, I spoke.
"What? That's all? After threatening to kill me, will you just fly away?" I asked in annoyance.
"As much as I want to kill you, unfortunately, the Queen wants us back. We have important matters to deal with." They said and they retreated until their figures disappeared from the distance. I was left alone. I was tired. After wasting my energy in this fight, they just retreated back. I am annoyed, but tiredness overtook me.
"Pieces of shit." I said before I lost my consciousness, leaving me in a deep sleep.
