-Hello mother, I wanted to tell you that I'm already in the apartment where I'm going to stay.
-Was the trip tiring?
-Mom, it was a 20-hour flight. Of course I'm tired.
-You couldn't sleep on the plane?
-I tried. But I didn't make it, I felt like I drank 3 shots of espresso.
-Then get some rest, it must be late there, right?
-It's 3 o'clock in the morning... I'm going to sleep, I'm very tired and tomorrow, well, today will be a busy day.
-Get some rest, don't forget to call Katherine, okay?
-All right, mom. Good night, Mom. Good night.
-Good night. -Good night.
Today, April 2nd, I am in the apartment that the ISATW "International Scholarships Around The World" offered me after I was accepted in the program.
I am currently in Japan fulfilling my dream as a teenager, and on my way to fulfill my dream as an adult, to leave Japan as a graduate of the profession I want to practice. I, David Campos, will accomplish my goal.
But first, I'm going to let Katty know that I'm okay. As I finish saying that, my phone receives a call from you-know-who.
-Hello David!
Said Katty in a somewhat agitated voice.
-Hi Katty, I'm already in Japan, I arrived 4 hours ago, but I was too tired to let you know.
-At least a message would have been enough, don't you think?
-You have a point.
I said along with a laugh.
-I'm glad to hear that you are happy, remember that, if you feel far from home, or you can't adapt to Japan there is no turning back. To waste this opportunity is very foolish, but, your health comes first, understood?
-I understand, don't worry I'll be fine.
-Don't forget to tell me all your experiences!
-Ehh... I'll try to remember it.
I said with a somewhat low tone of voice and hung up the call.
Katty cares about me, or at least that's what I know since we met quite some time ago.
In this next year I must strengthen my Japanese enough to engage in conversations and above all, to survive.
The scholarship offers me housing, monthly payment and a year of language to finally enter the university that accepted my application.
Since this is the first chapter I should not continue with this day, nor with the following ones. So let's go for the meat, no one likes stuffing.
In this year I learned enough Japanese to survive, what remains, is to survive the university career, since Japan is one of the countries with a very superior education, students must deal with constant study to get very good grades and not be thrown out of their society as incapable.
However, I am a scholarship holder and also a foreigner, so I have to be at the level of my rivals and be even better, the problem is that I come from a country with an average education, so adapting will be difficult but not impossible, since studying every day is not a concept that I have, I will have to learn it.
Having thought about the problems I will have to face from tomorrow, I decided to go to rest. But it was not going to be so easy, the nerves were eating me up and I could not sleep, so I applied one of the secret techniques, a technique I learned 4 years ago and with which I always manage to rest... Counting the multiplication tables, and as expected, it was successful.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's 7 o'clock in the morning and I'm heading to the university, I knew that the bullet trains were filled to the brim with people, but I never thought it was in a literal sense....
Right now I feel compressed, too compressed, and I don't know at which station the bullet train is going to empty, but most likely it won't empty yet if I get to the stop where I have to get off.
Arriving at the university and seeing how incredibly huge it is, I faced my first problem, I don't know the facilities, let alone someone to guide me, so I have to show off my incredible command of Japanese...
I asked for directions with basic grammar to find the classroom where I am going to receive my first class, I am not going to make a fool of myself by using an advanced grammar and be told "How good Japanese you have!
Upon entering I could see that there were many people, and there were both Japanese and foreigners, as I took a seat I saw at one end of the classroom a peculiar woman, she has long hair and is tall, the curious thing is that you can see that she has Japanese features, and at least the women have an average height of 160 cm.
When the professor arrived and explained how his classes were going to work, he assigned the project to be delivered in 1 month, it was not complicated, or so it seems...
-Suspicious...
I said in my mind.
If the professor allows us to form groups to do a project, it is because it is usually not that easy, I learned that in the university I attended.
At the end of the explanation of the project he allowed us to form groups, but the professor assigned us to random groups, by the way, the groups are of two people. Just for the record.
After looking for my name on the list and seeing who I was supposed to work with, I read the name Sasaki Majime. A full Japanese name, since I didn't know what it is, I have two options, ask my classmates one by one or just ask out loud who this person is.
Or, I choose the third option, ask the teacher and have him call Sasaki and not make a fool of myself, or so I thought. But, if the teacher doesn't know who it is, since it's the first day of school, it's kind of pointless to ask....
In the middle of my thoughts I heard a voice behind me.
-Hello, are you by any chance Campos David?
When I turned around, it was the same woman I saw at that end of the room, tall, refined, long hair, and as far as I could tell, a serious expression, not as if she had no feelings, but more of inexpressiveness towards people.
-Hello, yes, that's the one you're talking to. So, you are Sasaki Majime, right?
I asked to confirm, since it could be someone else, it never hurts to confirm.
-Yes, that's right, nice to meet you Campos.
-Much pleasure.
From that day on, things were going to get interesting.
