Chapter 68 - Sneak attack and counterattack

After loading the long-barreled shotgun in his hand, Norton confirmed that his bulletproof vest was intact, then touched his bald head, pointed the barrel of the gun at the captured survivor below him, and shouted in a voice towards the inspection post:

"Listen to the insiders, I think you also know what's going on now. If you don't want this person to die, you'd better give up obediently, otherwise...!"

Then he raised the corner of his mouth slightly, lifted his foot, and stomped on it hard, so hard that Wilfred and the others who were stealthily approaching could faintly hear the sound of the blow.

"Ah!" the survivor immediately shouted. The intense pain made him struggle in the snow. Tears of pain were about to fall: "Lev! Lucy! Help me!"

"You!"

The woman named Lucy obviously saw her partner's miserable situation, but she didn't feel much because they only met this person halfway, but she still gritted her teeth and said, "Despicable!"

"Haha——!" Norton laughed happily after hearing what the other party was saying. What he liked to see most was when he was torturing people, the expressions of the relatives or companions of the other party who wanted to kill him.

"So, your choice is..."

"Bang!"

But before he could finish speaking, Norton suddenly noticed that the survivor suddenly stood up with a gun raised and shot him without thinking.

The bullet narrowly missed him, but it still surprised him. A thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his face gradually turned ugly. A surge of anger arose, he really didn't expect the other party to dare to do this, without regard for the safety of the person under him.

However, the woman only fired once before quickly ducking. The two people next to the truck, alerted by his movements, reacted immediately. They took their rifles and opened fire on her, trying to keep her under control and prevent her from attacking again.

"Shit! Did I tell them to shoot?"

Seeing that these two people dared to shoot without permission, Norton almost wanted to strangle them to death.

He had assigned a few people to guard this ramp. Perhaps because of the considerable distance, not many survivors made it to this place. Even when a few appeared, he rarely needed to intervene. However, upon witnessing by chance what seemed like a promising opportunity, his greed was activated. He decided to take control personally, intending to grab that prize and keep it for himself.

But he did not imagine that something important would happen as soon as he was gone. Before leaving, he made sure to leave clear instructions: there was to be no firing at this location, to avoid alerting the troops ahead.

But now the gunshots here were not only ringing out, but also at a standstill with these survivors.

"No, we need to deal with these guys as soon as possible."

Norton decided that he must handle these survivors without using firearms. If the situation became complicated and noise became unavoidable, he had no intention of staying there for long; His plan would be to flee immediately. As he brooded, he shot a fierce look at the two people who had just fired. If he didn't need his entire team to maintain control, he would have taken the lives of those incompetents with a single shot.

Norton turned his head and looked at the two companions who were sneaking up on him. He looked at their positions and a cruel smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. He swore that he would severely torture that * woman later!

With these things in mind, he still shouted to attract the other party's attention: "Since you don't care about this person's safety, you don't care about his life anymore!"

As he spoke, he lifted his foot again and stomped heavily on the survivor's head before the horrified gaze.

"Kaka!"

With this strong kick, the survivor's head suddenly sank deep into the snow, making a sound of broken bones.

At the same time, the survivor's body began to shake violently and his entire body was writhing on the ground as if he was suffering from epilepsy. However, it wasn't long before he calmed down and lay motionless in the snow.

With a gentle kick, Norton pushed aside the survivor who was already dead at his feet. Hearing the woman's curses coming from the checkpoint, Norton knew that he had successfully attracted the other party's attention and couldn't help but smile proudly.

But at that moment, he suddenly heard a faint sound from behind. Although the movement was not strong, he still caught it.

Suddenly, alarm bells rang in Norton's heart. As a former outlaw, he had a very keen sense of any anomalies around him.

Norton turned his head sharply, alarmed. To his surprise, behind him were two men and two women, all with weapons in hand. The guns they held were aimed directly at their group, and the middle-aged man's was focused specifically on him.

Almost unconsciously, Norton lunged to the side and jumped behind a pile of supply crates next to him to avoid the bullets that were about to fire at him.

Just the next second after his body left, there was a gunshot and bullets shot out, hitting the spot where he was standing right now.

A shot rang out, followed by an intense burst coming from the ramp. Some bullets hit right where Norton had left moments before, while others headed towards the two hunters who were advancing in front.

The hunters behind the truck kept their full attention on the checkpoint in front, not imagining that danger could come from behind. Without taking any precautions, the bullets hit them by surprise, piercing their backs with brutal precision.

They both fell to the ground with muffled screams, their rifles slipping from their hands and they were lying next to them. Their bodies, badly wounded, could barely emit groans of pain as life seemed to slowly slip away.

"Damn!"

Wilfred didn't expect the other party to be so cunning and reacted very quickly. He had obviously already aimed at the target and planned to kill the person who seemed to be the biggest threat with a headshot. But just as he was about to shoot, he suddenly looked back.

At the same time, a cry of surprise rang out from the direction of the checkpoint. The two hunters who had crept up there seemed to have started a sneak attack.

Shortly after, several shots were heard followed by shouts of alarm, but the exchange of bullets abruptly ceased. Instead, the sound of bodies hitting the ground and the echo of an intense fight broke the momentary silence. Amid the chaos, a woman's angry voice echoed, shouting unintelligible words, making it clear that the situation ahead had gotten out of control.

Pulling the grenade out of his body, Wilfred planned to make a quick decision and blow up the grenade at the opponent directly. I didn't want to lengthen it and add new variables.

But before he could do anything, he suddenly figured out where the bald man was hiding. Three green ball-shaped objects were thrown one after another, drawing an arc in the air and flying towards their location.

Everyone looked at the object flying in the air with wide eyes. The familiar object was the same as the grenade Brian had just pulled.

"Be careful!"

Wilfred didn't expect the other party to throw the grenade directly. A sense of crisis arose spontaneously. He shouted, then they moved backwards.

Sylvia and Anna, who were nearby, naturally saw the flying grenades and ran back as soon as possible.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The moment the three grenades hit the ground, the sound of an explosion suddenly sounded, and the place was suddenly filled with smoke. Countless shrapnel from broken grenades were fired towards the surrounding objects along with the shockwave.

The moment the grenade exploded, Wilfred and the others who hadn't run very far fell straight to the ground to minimize the damage the grenade caused them.

Fortunately, Brian and Sarah were only in charge of covering them with firearms, so they were far away and unaffected.

At the same time, when the front was obscured by gunpowder smoke, a figure ran out of hiding. The shotgun in his hand continued to fire forward, suppressing Wilfred and others who dared to rise.

Norton did not expect another group of people to suddenly appear behind him and kill two of his men. This made him nervous. The person who was next to the truck was shot dead, and the other three people were also killed, now there is no one around him, so he must face these few survivors who suddenly appeared.

But this situation awakened his ferocity. He understood that in this situation he should take the initiative or wait to die.

After realizing the situation at the checkpoint, he took this perfect opportunity and threw the three grenades at him without hesitation.

The reason Norton didn't use grenades before was because he was afraid to alert the troops inside, otherwise he only needed one grenade to kill the two survivors who were hiding.

But at this moment, he didn't care about anything else anymore. When he used the grenade, he had already decided to leave immediately after killing these people. Anyway, America is such a big country, and with your skill, you can live well wherever you go.

Shotgun bullets echoed intermittently as Norton fired and advanced rapidly toward the African-American woman. He noticed that the man and woman were too close to each other, giving him a chance.

Shooting as he ran, Norton coolly calculated his every move. He knew that the few bullets he had left in the shotgun wouldn't be enough for a prolonged engagement, and he wouldn't have time to reload once he was at close range. So he decided to change tactics: taking a hostage would be his best option, and women were always the most vulnerable target.
