She already decided that there was no way she would let those vicious people draw her back.
She has a reason why she had never tried leaving her palace on her own, when she was three, she realized that she was different from other children, she was afraid of people finding out she could command fire.
Corvina had witnessed just how dangerous her fire was, as it almost killed her once. It made her suffer everyday for two weeks, it was unbearable for her. Her Grandfather loved her Grandmother so much that even after her death six decades ago, he still cried at night looking at his wife's photo. After hearing her father tell her this story and realizing that her grandmother was a fire element wielder, she was always scared of her powers, worried that it will cause her death, just like it did her Grandmother.
Years after her Grandmother died, Corvina was diagnosed with the same illness that killed her Grandmother. It appears she inherited it from her father's genes since then she's been battling with it without the awareness of her parents. She was only three and she knew just like her Grandmother, she would keep suffering immense pain till the day she died.
"But before then I have to live and find a way to cure it" she had always thought to herself every time she remembered her condition, and now was no different.
The pain erupted again in a mile form, almost like an ache, but for someone who was running for her life, it seemed like it was tearing her apart.
Trying to catch her breath, she then realized that the warm rock was beside her.
"Hmm?.. How did this get here?... I thought I dropped it?" Stars could be seen around her head, as her head brainstormed.
"Gasp! Could it be what that creature was after?" Astonished, Corvina wondered why that creature would follow her all the way out of the palace when it's master was in there.
"It was you, I always wondered why a rock would give such a weird feeling!" She cried firmly though in a low tone.
Throwing the rock to the side, she kept walking forward hurriedly to the middle of nowhere only to end up in an alleyway that is dark and gloomy giving a cursed spirit vibe.
Everything that just happened, right then started replaying in her mind, and she could not believe herself. She actually did something so outrageous like that? It was simply unforgettable, now that she thought about it, she couldn't fathom where she got her bravery from to escape instead of crying, which is something a child her age would do, was she really that desperate?
Slowing down her steps, for a while now she has noticed slow steps behind her, as long as it was not that shadowy figure she was fine, but to think of being followed in a dark alley sent shivers down her spine.
"Who's there?"
No response followed,
Walking for another two minutes, the sneaky steps sounded again. Unsure of what to do, Corvina ran with all her might, only to trip and fall, face first on the ground.
Enduring the pain, she bit her lips and dragged her body to the corner trying her best not to make any sound.
Sure enough, two bruly drunkards staggered out from behind her, luckily for her, she was out of sight.
"Hmm.. I thought I-I saw someone here?" One complained in a bittered tone.
"Don't worry brother, we will definitely have our fill today, forget those lousy brothels, we'll have beauty, without paying" they other drunkard encouraged his friend in a soft tone as the both walked away.
After about five minutes of hiding in a small space, her body was cramping severely. After listening to their conversation, she thought it would be better to stay where she is for the time being.
Waiting for who knows how long, she straightens her sore legs.
"Wow... Look who we have here!!"
Corvina stood frozen in her spot as she heard the mocking tone of the drunkards behind her.
"I knew I saw something earlier"
"She's even a beauty, brother tonight we'll have fun"
Laughter echoed in the dark night, followed by Corvina's scream as she was being pulled on the ground by one of the drunk.
"Master, shall I take care of them"
This voice sent shivers down the spine of anyone who heard it, how much more Corvina who had seen it in action?
"Hm.."
This little sound sealed the life's of the two drunks turning them into paste on the spot.
"Leave the girl" his deep voice echoed in the alley as though one going through adolescence, not entirely mature yet gives one the temperment on a ruling figure.
This was the second time in her life of seeing such a cruel way of killing someone, at this point, fear vanished, leaving behind only pure hatred.
"My Empire cannot have such a stain". This might sound strange coming from a young boy but Corvina knows better than to be deceived by looks, he was a cold blooded killer who ruined her life.
After dealing with the two drunk. Not even sparing a glance at the person he saved, he directly walked away leaving her only his back view.
Stopping in his tracks after a few steps.
"What's that feeling?" He thought to himself only to turn around at the little girl, who was glaring at him, something no one had ever dared to do.
"But there is something else in her eyes"
For the first time he felt scared. shivers run down his spine, staring at the fifteen years old girl in dirted soiled clothing glaring at him like he was the cause of her misfortune.
"I have felt those gaze before" hatred clouding one's vision.
Corvina, on the other hand, didn't even know what her action had caused, only that there was no way to turn back time.
She made the first move, and now she has to finish what she started.
