Chapter 3 - The House Of Eldoria

The Kingdom of Valoria, a realm of grandeur and power, was anchored by four formidable figures: the Dukes. Each, a pillar of strength, held sway over their respective domains:

* Duke Kaelan Blade of the North: A stoic warrior, his unwavering loyalty and strategic mind were the bedrock of the kingdom's defenses.

* Duchess Andrew Silvester of the South: A cunning diplomat and skilled negotiator, her grace and intelligence were renowned throughout the land.

* Duke Morris Stromfort of the East: A charismatic leader and skilled swordsman, he was beloved by his people for his bravery and compassion.

* Duchess Maria Lionheart of the West: A wise and compassionate ruler, she was known for her love of learning and her unwavering dedication to her people.

While these four houses held immense power, another family, the House of Eldoria, quietly wielded their influence. Count Vargas Eldoria, the head of the house, was a man of formidable intellect and cunning. His wealth, amassed through shrewd investments, profitable trade routes, and lucrative mining operations, was legendary. The opulent Eldoria Palace, a marvel of architecture and engineering, stood as a testament to their immense fortune.

Beyond their material wealth, the Eldorias were renowned for their refined taste, their patronage of the arts, and their philanthropic endeavors. Their lavish balls and banquets attracted the nobility and the intelligentsia from across the land. However, beneath the facade of elegance and unity, the Eldoria family harbored deep-seated secrets and rivalries.

Count Vargas's first wife, a woman of grace and beauty, tragically passed away during childbirth, leaving behind a young heir, Adam Eldoria. Grief-stricken, the Count sought solace in the arms of Lady Elara, a woman of sharp wit and kind heart. She became Adam's stepmother and bore the Count two more children: Alex Eldoria, a spirited and adventurous boy, and Anya Eldoria, a gentle and wise young lady.

Despite the difference in their births, the three Eldoria children were raised together. However, Adam, the eldest, was often overlooked and undervalued by his father. The Count, harboring a deep-seated resentment towards Adam, saw him as a constant reminder of his late wife. This disdain was palpable, and it cast a long shadow over Adam's life.

As a result, Adam grew into a troubled young man, often withdrawn and sullen. He struggled to gain his father's approval and was frequently subjected to his harsh criticism. The whispers and rumors about his "uselessness" spread throughout the kingdom, further isolating him.

In contrast, Alex, the younger son, was the apple of his father's eye. A brilliant young knight-in-training, Alex was groomed to be the heir apparent. He was often seen at court, representing the Eldoria family at official events. Anya, the youngest, was a gentle soul with a keen intellect. However, she was often overshadowed by her brothers and rarely ventured into the public eye.

As the Eldoria family navigated the complex web of power and politics, the fate of the House hung in the balance. Adam, the rightful heir, was a shadow of his former self, while Alex, the favored son, was poised to seize the reins of power. And Anya, the quiet observer, held the key to unlocking the secrets of the past and shaping the future of the Eldoria family.

"Good Evening, Everyone"

The grand dining hall was a sight to behold, its walls adorned with intricate tapestries and its ceiling soaring high above. The long, ornate tables were laden with a feast fit for a king, the aroma of roasted meats and fresh bread filling the air.

As Adam entered the room, all eyes turned to him. His father, Count Vargas Eldoria, a stern and imposing figure, regarded him with a mixture of disdain and curiosity. Lady Elara, Adam's stepmother, greeted him with a warm smile, her eyes filled with concern and affection.

"Adam, how are you feeling?" she asked, her voice gentle.

"I'm feeling much better, thank you, Mother," Adam replied, using the respectful title as a formality.

The Count scoffed. "Don't call her Mother, boy. She's not your real mother."

A tense silence fell over the table. Lady Elara's eyes narrowed, but she quickly regained her composure. "Vargas, please," she pleaded. "Let the boy eat in peace."

The Count ignored her, turning his attention back to Adam. "I have something important to discuss with you, Adam," he said, his voice cold and deliberate. "After your Awakening Ceremony, you will relinquish your position as heir to the House of Eldoria."

A wave of shock washed over Adam. He had expected his father to be displeased, but he hadn't anticipated such a drastic measure. "Why, Father?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"Because you are not fit to lead," the Count replied, his voice hard. "You are weak, indecisive, and lacking in ambition. Alex is the true heir, the one who will carry on the legacy of the Eldorias."

Lady Elara's face paled. "Vargas, you can't be serious," she protested. "Adam is your firstborn son. He deserves a chance."

The Count ignored her, his gaze fixed on Adam. "I will not tolerate any objections, Adam. You will do as I say."

Adam's heart ached, but he knew that arguing with his father would be futile. He nodded silently, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and determination. I don't know if this where my real feeling or Adam's feelings.

"Father I accept your conditions..... But I have one final request until my awakening ceremony I shall not be disturbed by anyone. After my ceremony I should be allowed to travel outside our territory until the academy starts"

Adam looks at his father awaiting for his reply

...

The count in deep thoughts after a few minutes after sighing.

the Count continued, "I will allow you one final request. Until your Awakening Ceremony, you will be left undisturbed. No one is to bother you, not even your family. Also leaving the territory after the ceremony I will also allow that but you have to be back one month before the academy starts. Do you agree"

Adam looks at his father

' wow this the best I didn't expethe count to agree to everything so easily.'

Adam was surprised by his father's concession. He knew that this was a rare opportunity to train and prepare for the challenges that lay ahead. He nodded in agreement.

"I, Agree"

"Very well," the Count said, his tone final. "Now, eat your dinner."

As the meal progressed, a tense silence hung over the table. Adam ate in silence, his mind racing. He knew that his fate was sealed. He was to be cast aside, replaced by his younger brother. But he also knew that this was not the end. It was merely the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
