CHAPTER
Logan's POV
When Isabell headed to her room, my mom's countenance changed. I already knew what she was going to say.
"How has the company been?" she asked.
"The company's performance has been stable, Mother," I said evenly. "Better than you'd think, given the recent... disruptions."
Her gaze snapped to mine, sharp as a blade. "Disruptions," she repeated, her tone dry. "Is that what we're calling attempted sabotage these days?"
"I have it handled."
She raised a perfectly sculpted brow, unimpressed. "Handled? By sitting on your hands while enemies circle like vultures?"
my voice dropping low "I'm not sitting. I'm moving in the shadows. The people who think they've outplayed me are already paying, one step at a time."
Her eyes narrowed. "Secrecy doesn't win wars, Logan."
"Neither does drawing attention to every move. You taught me that."
