"What if... prodigies are reincarnations of a master, whose only goal was to continue their craft?"
"that's interesting..." the customers at the diner let out an awkward chuckle while the waiter leaves their food on the table and heads back to the counter where an woman is preparing more food. "Jun.. could you stop telling all those theories of "reincarnation" you are making my customers awkward" once the woman finishes she tosses the plates to Jun who catches them easily causing the customers to applaud in amazement "But mom I got no one else to talk to"
"what about your brother..." as Jun and her mother look toward the stairs leading to their rooms Jun sighs "All he does is stay cooped up in that room of his trying to complete his "stance training" and he's just so boring to talk to..." even Jun's mother realizes she has a point *sigh* "at least tell him to come down her after you serve those plates" "Aye-aye captain!!"
Jun finishes serving the plates and as she heads up two old men walk in "Ms. Amori I see you are doing just as well as your mother!"
"Why thank you, will it be the usual for you two?" laughing again the other old man adds "You know us so well!". When Jun comes down with Sam in tow Ms. Amori tosses a bike at Sam, which he catches making everyone applaud again "don't you think a bike is too far? I didn't even say anything yet" handing Sam the container of to-go food Ms. Amori simply says "Night shift for you" accepting his fate Sam complies "alright..."
Hours later the sun is starting to set an two people, a man in his 70's and a woman in her 20's, were strolling on the side walk. When Sam passes by all three people lock eyes. One could assume it was because of the two's outfits since one wore the outfit of a Ming dynasty craftsman and the other, dressed like a Meiji era factory worker. Even Sam chalked it up to the outfits but it wasn't, it was as if, they should know the other.. Ignoring the familiarity Sam bikes on finishing his shift going to sleep for the next day to come but when it does so, unlike yesterday Sam is second one up around 6 in the morning (an hour after his mother) so he can dodge the night shift.
Strangely the same two people in the same outfits are the first to arrive, but even stranger, Ms. Amori seems to know the two "Hello Ms. Kurēn, Mr. Jeiyuan are you well?" noticing That Sam and The recently revealed Kurēn and Jeiyuan were looking at each other. Jeiyuan looks at Kurēn and asks while holding a straight face "is he the one?" "yes it's him" Kurēn replies, and a loud simultaneous "wait!" is heard coming from Jun and Ms. Amori, who rushes off with a small hammer, breaks a glass, and whips out two rings. The only two thrown off by the commotion of Jun jumping and giggling about while Ms. Amori and Jeiyuan are cackling loudly at what the old man had caused were apparently "newly wed" pair.
As Jun acts as the officiant Ms. Amori and Jeiyuan whisper into their "responsibilities'" ears, reasons to say "I do" like "don't you want to evade night shifts for as long as you are married" or "Do you want a home?" But just before Jun could say "You may now kiss the bride" she is cut off by a simultaneous and sharp "No" but their simple desires compel them to agree to the marriage just as a title for benefits but as soon as Jeiyuan asks if they can move in Ms. Amori with a "Business smile" simply states while taking the rings back states "I have no more room for free loaders" "Ms. Amori" Kurēn calls "Can we live here if we work full time".
"of course dear daughter" "daughter?" Kurēn asks "of course you are married to my son...- your work hours are from 6am till 3pm you will be in the empty room next to mines" after their introduction to such a "warm welcoming" to new families and friends everyone is sent to work. Some questions were tossed about the new employees but nothing was mentioned about the marriage although some regular customers implied so since Kurēn and Jeiyuan wore the "family uniform" and there was also the fact that Kurēn wouldn't stop following Sam around trying to learn from him but as usual, Sam is given the brunt of the work so he closes the store but Kurēn is staying there then she asks.
"Got any skills to speed this up?"
"none? why ask" Kurēn adds "wanna learn some?"
"why would I want to I still-" suddenly a mop is tossed at him which he startlingly catches "why would you do that!?"
"Training starts now" Kurēn now holding a mop her self places it on the ground and starts spinning rapidly actually paying attention Sam asks "what kind of training-" before Sam could finish his question Kurēn slides the broom and as it bounces between the tables ricocheting off of walls tables and the counter at crazy speeds and the floor is cleaned around the two "your turn" Kurēn says as if he should know how but as confused as ever he asks "how could I?!"
"I guess you weren't the one then..."
"what is that supposed to mean!" Sam questions but Kurēn had already walked to her room "How dare she- I-I'll show her who's not the one!". He tries it for the first time but the mop fell off balance causing the handle to swing wildly and hit Sam in the face but out of pure will to prove Kurēn wrong he continued. In the middle of his training he heard someone try to quietly walk away but he was too busy trying to learn his skill to care. By morning time Kurēn walked into the diner to prep for work till she startled by a mop slowly sliding by then she saw Sam standing unconscious but in a gloating manner causing her to chuckle and say quietly "you are the one"
