I swear... they always try to paint the main female character as some average Joe, but she's still freaking pretty compared to the others.
I love romance web comics. I love the fluffy romances and shyness and I (especially) love swooning over the hot male leads (and occasional female lead, too).
But what I'm not a fan of is... hypocrisy. Actually, scratch that. Being good-looking and attracting other good-looking people isn't hypocrisy.
But it's overused! It's frustrating!
I feel like most people who read web comics (no offense) are average, you know? We're don't fit the female lead archetype of being objectively good-looking and also having an attractive personality. And I could go on and on about each of the horrible tropes of the many romance web comics I've read, but everything can be summed up with just one sentence:
It's just unrealistic!
Well, then I suppose another argument is that authors don't want to write about the average bloke, because it's boring. Well, that's false! Any story can be turned into a masterpiece for any author worth their salt.
That author is not me, by the way.
I'm just your average girl, trying to bring justice for all of the average girls out there. Because being average is also special, and I want to write about my life—whether or not you think it's worthy of being female-lead material is up to you.
