Avery grimm was a 24 year old university graduate when she first learnt of her pregnancy.
At 28 she moved into an isolated rural home with her 3 year old son silas. The house was located approximately about 3 miles from the nearby town and shopping areas. On her second night of staying in her new house after putting silas to sleep, she heard a knock coming from the front door. As she walked tp the front door the knocks became louder and louder, she stopped by the kitchen and grabbed a knife before heading to the front door. She looked through the front door keyhole and saw two children standing in her front porch with pitch black eyes and dark hair wearing hospital gowns with rather disturbing expressions on their faces.
"Mommy" one of the children said softly. She didn't say anything.
"Mommy please let us in"
"Its cold out here" the other said.
"I'm not your mom" Avery replied barely holding back tears.
"Mommy no!" The other yelled as they started to bang on the door. Silas woke up from all the noise and started crying. Avery snapped from her thoughts "its not a dream" she said to herself quietly before running up the stairs to her babys room. She took silas and held him in her arms as she tried to comfort him amidst the banging noise.
The next morning avery decided to visit the local town while also doing an errand.
"Olivia, umm...do you think you'll be able to come for a visit?" She spoke on the phone." I won't be free until next week. Is that fine?" The person on the line answered." Thats ok, I guess I'll see you then" she said before ending the call.
She parked by a local cafe then got out the car. She dropped silas off at a daycare center then headed to the local market to buy some fruits and vegetables." Hi, my name's kate its my first time seeing you here. Are you new here?" She said as she raised her hand for Avery to shake." Oh hey, yes I am new here. Nice to meet you late my name's Avery' she replied before shaking kates hand.
"I heard someone moved into the grimson house and I'm guessing that was you?"
"Yes, that was me"
"How's your stay so far?"
" Its been good, but i have a question to ask"
"What is it?"
" There were kids at my front porch last night asking to be let in..."
"Kids?"
"Yeah, they were wearing hospital gowns and had disturbing expressions."
"Maybe they got lost or maybe you were dreaming..."
"...yeah, i guess you're right."
"So did you move in with your partner or friends?"
"No, I came with my 3 year old son silas."
"You're a single mom?"
"Yes..."
"Oh my me too, we should definitely have play dates"
"Oh my would you look at the time; I should head back before its dark."
She waves goodbye then goes to get silas from the daycare.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine"
She takes silas and heads to the car then puts him in the babysit before driving back to the house.
"Mommy has to do something quickly so go watch tv"
"Okay"
She heads upstairs and locks herself inside her bedroom then takes out pills from the chest drawer. She takes some and drinks some water then sits on the floor staring at the door. She starts having hallucinations of someone talking to her on the other side of the door and continuously apologizing for something.
"You're not real"
"Samantha just open the goddamn door!"
"No!"
A few minutes pass and the noise stop then she opens the door and steps out.
"Do you want some pizza?"
"Uh huh"
"What do you want on your pizza?"
"Same as mommy"
"Alright sweetheart" she says as hse walks to the kitchdn counter to grab her phone.
"Hello, I'd like to order a pizza"
"What would you like?"
"Two regulars with no pineapple"
"Address?"
"1784 pinewood-"
"Sorry we don't deliver to that house this late"
"Huh?"
"Sorry" the other person on the line said before hanging up.
She paused for a while dumbfounded. "I guess we're having hotdogs dear"
"No pizza?"
"We'll get pizza tomorrow"
Silas feeling rather disappointed just continued watching his show. Later on as Avery was putting silas to sleep she heard footsteps coming from downstairs inside the house. She quickly ran to lock the bedroom door.
"Mommy its us, please open the door" The voices kept pleading as she realized that the two children from the night before had entered as she had forgotten to lock the doors.
