Osman, despite the oppressive heat of the summer sun, was spending time in the palace garden with Mehri Banu Hatun. The garden, shaded by fruit trees, resembled a paradise on earth. The water from the fountain flowed with a melody-like rhythm, while the sharp fragrance of roses and jasmine filled the air. A gentle breeze danced among the leaves, and the cheerful chirping of birds completed the serenity. Yet, despite this tranquil scene, Osman's mind was storming with heavy thoughts.

Mehri Banu, with delicate hands, was weaving daisies into an intricate garland, occasionally stealing glances at Osman. But Osman was not focused on her careful handiwork. Instead, his eyes were fixed on the clouds slowly drifting across the horizon, lost in his own musings. This moment of peace, however, was soon interrupted by an unexpected movement.

From the far end of the garden, a messenger approached Hasan. Bowing slightly, the messenger whispered something into Hasan's ear. The serious expression on Hasan's face betrayed the gravity of the message. He moved briskly toward Osman, who paused his conversation with Mehri Banu to focus on him. The questioning look in Osman's eyes was enough to summon Hasan to his side.

Leaning close, Hasan spoke in a low voice:

"My Sultan, I have heard that some timar holders are plotting rebellion. Their plan is to depose Öküz Kara Mehmed Pasha from the position of Grand Vizier. It seems they believe he is the driving force behind all these reforms."

Osman listened calmly to Hasan's report. His expression remained utterly composed, showing no sign of surprise. With a single word, he responded:

"Understood."

Hasan, struck by the Sultan's lack of shock, thought to himself in amazement: "Our Sultan had foreseen this. What a formidable mind he has!"

With a subtle hand gesture, Osman dismissed Hasan before turning back to Mehri Banu. His gaze softened with understanding.

"Mehri Banu Hatun, forgive me. Urgent matters require my attention."

Mehri Banu noticed the resolve in Osman's voice and responded with a gentle smile:

"My Sultan, please do not worry about me. Attend to your duties for the state."

Osman's face darkened slightly at her formal tone.

"Mehri Banu Hatun, how many times must I tell you to address me by my name? Let this be the last time."

Blushing faintly, Mehri Banu lowered her voice in embarrassment:

"As you wish, Osman Beyim."

A satisfied smile crossed Osman's face. He cast a final glance at Mehri Banu before heading toward the palace's stone corridors. Passing through the colonnaded courtyard, he turned to Hasan and commanded:

"Send word for the Divan to convene immediately."

Hasan, sensing the authority in Osman's voice, hurried to carry out the order. The gentle breeze in the garden now carried not just the scent of roses but also the weight of Osman's determination. Each step of the young Sultan hinted at the dawn of a new era for his state and people.
