Chapter 20 - Why did you save me then

Kevin had a dream, a dream of a courtyard where many children were playing, and he had become a child too.

But instead of playing with the group, he squatted in a corner, watching everything.

Suddenly, a little girl he had never seen before ran over and asked him, "What are you doing?"

The little girl was all white, with white skin, white eyelashes, white short hair, white shorts, and a white shirt. Everything was white except for her eyes, which were as red as blood.

She looked so flawless.

He stared at her blankly, and after a moment, he said, "Can... can you see me?"

"Of course," the little girl blinked and asked again, "What are you doing?"

He shook his head silently.

"Why don't you play with them?"

He looked at them, his eyes full of longing, but then his gaze dimmed, and he shook his head again without speaking.

"Then I'll play with you!"

"Really?" He couldn't help but look up, his eyes wide.

"Yep, let's go catch little fish by the river!"

"The director... doesn't allow..." He hesitated and shook his head.

"Oh, it's okay!" The little girl took his hand without waiting and ran towards the river, asking as they ran, "What's your name?"

"...Kevin..."

"That's a nice name."

He looked at the little girl's bright smile and mustered the courage to ask, "What... what's your name?"

"You can call me Bianca."

"Bianca... huh?"

"It's Bianca, call me Bianca."

"Oh..."

...

"Bianca..." he murmured, opening his eyes.

Huh?

He sat up abruptly, feeling a bit confused.

Was that... a dream?

Was it a dream?

Or a memory from his childhood?

His memories before the age of sixteen were blank, according to the doctor, he had amnesia.

But what did he just dream of?

Could it be a memory from before?

Or just a dream?

He was a bit confused and tried hard to recall, but found that everything in the dream seemed to be disappearing. In a moment, he couldn't remember anything from the dream clearly.

He only remembered that there was a girl named Bianca.

But he forgot what she looked like, who she was, and any memories related to her.

But he vaguely remembered that she meant something special to him.

"Bianca..." he murmured, as if trying to remember the name, when suddenly he turned his head.

"Hey, where's Catherine?" he exclaimed, "Bella, Bella?"

"Here," Bella's figure materialized.

"Where's Catherine?" Kevin asked.

"No idea," Bella shook her head, "After you fell unconscious, I couldn't materialize, so I don't know anything."

"But your injuries are mostly healed, it must have been Catherine who healed you... pffft!" Bella said, almost laughing as she looked at the top of Kevin's head.

But Kevin didn't notice.

"My injuries..." Kevin only then realized that his injuries were almost healed, his hands were a bit numb, but there was a flow of magic within them, healing, and he believed his hands would soon return to normal.

But... Catherine was gone.

He felt a bit down all of a sudden.

It felt like being abandoned, as if... everything he had done was meaningless...

But he soon smiled, "No big deal, at least I don't have to take care of her every day..."

"Oh? You dislike me?" The voice had barely fallen when a tall figure appeared at the entrance, and a magnetic voice came, Kevin was stunned and looked towards the entrance.

The sunlight at the entrance sprinkled on her, as if outlining a hazy edge of light around her.

Very beautiful.

Catherine walked straight up to Kevin, leaned down, and got close to his face.

Their faces were so close that Kevin could even feel the warm breath from Catherine's nose, which made him subconsciously shrink his neck.

"Why did you save me then?" Catherine asked directly.

Kevin was taken aback and countered, "Saving someone... does it need a reason?"

Catherine stood there, staring blankly at Kevin.

"Does it..." she murmured, then her mouth spread into a grin: "Hahaha!"

"No need!" She revealed a bold smile on her face and slapped Kevin's shoulder hard, "Not bad, kid!"

Instantly, Kevin winced in pain.

Catherine's strength was too much; those two slaps almost made him fall back to the ground.

"Ouch ouch ouch..." he gasped in the cold air.

Catherine laughed, then she turned and walked outward: "Let's go!"

"Where to?" Kevin was taken aback.

Catherine turned around and looked at him with a smile, "Aren't you asking me to teach you magic?"

"Huh?" Kevin stared at her, then suddenly looked embarrassed: "You... could hear everything?"

"I could hear," Catherine nodded, then revealed a meaningful smile: "Someone said they wanted me to repay them with my body when I was unconscious, didn't they?"

"Who could it be?" She bit her lip, pretending to be puzzled, but her beautiful eyes were always smiling at Kevin.

Kevin took a step back, blushed, and scratched the back of his head, laughing awkwardly: "I was just joking..."

Before he finished speaking, Catherine flashed in front of Kevin, grabbed his collar again, and pulled him to herself.

"I don't like jokes!" She said, then turned around, and a fierce flame surged from her body, then the flame formed a lion's paw, which clamped on Kevin's head and lifted him up, walking outward.

"Cooked, cooked... Hey, it's not hot?" Seeing the flame-formed lion's paw clamped on his head, Kevin instinctively thought he was going to be burned, but the flame lion's paw was not hot at all, but very warm.

Hmm, wait a minute!

Where's my hair?!

Kevin was surprised to find that he was bald!

I'm bald, but I haven't become stronger, have I?

He wanted to cry but had no tears, as if his hair had been burnt off while he was transferring mana to Catherine...

Catherine walked forward without looking back, saying: "Your talent is the strongest I've ever seen. In just a few days, you've improved from a common person without mana to the fourth level."

"And your magic is all stolen from me, right."

"Uh..." Kevin smiled sheepishly: "How can this be called stealing..."

Catherine: "..."

She laughed: "Interesting!"

"You must be from another world," Catherine asked.

"Huh?" Kevin was surprised, how did she know?

Catherine said: "You don't have the aura of this world, you should be from another world. People from other worlds always have some magical abilities, so it's not strange."

"Really, are there many people like me from other worlds?" Kevin pointed to himself, completely forgetting that he was being carried by Catherine's lion's paw.

"Not many, and people from other worlds have magical abilities, but I've never seen anyone as strong as you." Catherine said, then she turned her face, her beautiful face showing a smile: "Kid, it's not easy to be my man, you need to be mentally prepared."

"Huh?" Kevin looked at her, and it took a while to react, his face excited: "Are you really going to repay me with your body?!"

Catherine shook her head: "It's not that I'm going to repay you with my body, it's whether you can make me repay you with my body."

She said with a smile: "My name is Catherine, Catherine Kalomun, and you?"

Upon hearing this, Kevin smiled brightly.

"My name is Kevin."

"An interesting name," Catherine nodded, then said: "I've given you the opportunity, and I have only one request."

"Get stronger!"

"Strong enough to defeat me!"

"Then I will consider whether to repay you with my body."

"No problem!" Kevin said excitedly, "With my upgrade speed, I will surpass you soon!"

"Is that so?" Catherine laughed: "I'll be waiting!"
