Chapter 40 - Vigilance in the Face of Celebration

Solomon's eyes scanned the war room, his gaze meeting the seasoned generals and advisors gathered around the strategy map. Henry stood beside him, their minds attuned to the looming threat.

"Gentlemen, our wedding celebrations must not distract us from the danger lurking beyond our borders," Solomon began. "Persia's silence is deceiving. We must remain vigilant."

General Aika nodded. "Agreed, Your Majesty. We'll double the guard and increase patrols during the wedding festivities."

Henry added, "Our scouts report increased activity near the eastern border. We cannot rule out a surprise attack."

Wise sage Ezra spoke up, "Perhaps we should reconsider the wedding's timing, considering the circumstances."

Solomon's expression turned resolute. "Nahar and I will not let fear dictate our lives. The wedding will proceed as planned, but with heightened security measures."

General Thorn suggested, "We could use the wedding as bait, Your Majesty. Lure Persia into a trap, and crush their forces."

Henry's eyes narrowed. "Too risky. We cannot gamble with innocent lives."

Solomon nodded. "Henry's right. Our priority is protecting our people, not provoking Persia."

The room fell silent as the leaders pondered their next move.

Wise sage Ezra spoke up, "I've studied the ancient texts. There's a prophecy speaking of a great deception during times of celebration. We must be cautious."

Solomon's gaze locked onto the sage's. "Explain."

Ezra started. "The prophecy speaks of a 'Wolf in the Fold,' a hidden enemy within our midst. We must ensure our inner circle remains loyal."

Henry's eyes scanned the room, his mind racing with possibilities.

Solomon's voice broke the tension. "We'll increase internal security checks. I want every guest vetted, every servant accounted for."

As the meeting concluded, Solomon and Henry exchanged a knowing glance. Their wedding would be a celebration of love, but also a test of their vigilance.

In the shadows, General Thorn, hidden within Emberhaven, received a message from Nikos.

"The plan remains unchanged. Strike during the wedding feast, when their guard is lowest."

Thorn's eyes turned cold. "The Wolf in the Fold will ensure their downfall."
