Long before the current era of players and sprawling villages, Noctyra was a world dominated by ancient civilizations, powerful magic, and elemental forces. It was an age known as the Era of Titans, a time when mighty sages who wielded incredible power reigned over their respective domains. These sages were revered as gods, capable of creating and destroying with mere whispers of their will, and they sought to keep a balance between light and dark forces.
Among these beings was Zaldor, the Dark Sage—a figure whose ambition and ruthlessness set him apart. Unlike others, who embraced both light and dark energies, Zaldor was different. He was born without a light soul, possessing only a dark soul—a soul fueled by ambition, greed, and a desire for domination. This lack of balance made him unrelentingly drawn to the darker forces of magic, which he saw as a means to ultimate power.
In his search, Zaldor discovered the Otherworld—a realm of pure darkness, untouched by light, inhabited by beings of chaos and destruction. Zaldor became obsessed with this Otherworld, driven by the idea of absorbing its raw energy to become an immortal god who could dominate Noctyra and beyond. Over years of forbidden studies, he designed a series of powerful rituals to tear open a gateway to this dark realm and drain its energy.
When the ritual was complete, Zaldor opened a massive portal to the Otherworld, unleashing a torrent of dark energy that engulfed the land. The Otherworld was destroyed in the process, reduced to a barren wasteland as its essence poured into Noctyra. As the immense power flowed toward Zaldor, the world began to fracture under its weight, sparking natural disasters across the land. But Zaldor's mortal body was unable to contain the energy, and he was forced to act quickly.
Desperate to preserve the power, Zaldor crafted the Dark Crystal—a vessel made of enchanted obsidian—and sealed 80% of the energy within it, hiding the crystal deep beneath the earth in a forgotten cavern. Another 15% was locked in a secondary crystal within his sanctum, and he absorbed the remaining 5% himself, granting him a limited immortality and vast, though controlled, power.
Though he failed in his quest to become an all-powerful god, Zaldor's actions shattered the delicate balance of light and dark. His dark influence seeped into the land, affecting even the souls of those around him. Every being in this world was created with a dual soul—one of light, representing hope and creation, and one of darkness, symbolizing ambition and destruction. Zaldor's dark energy intensified the conflict within each individual, leading many to succumb to their dark sides, becoming twisted and malevolent under his sway.
Seeing the devastation Zaldor had caused, the remaining light sages united against him, sparking a fierce conflict that would later be called The War of Souls. In this war, the kingdoms of light joined forces to combat Zaldor and his dark followers, waging a bloody and destructive battle. It was during this conflict that a prophecy of a Prodigy of the Light came to light—a being born with only a light soul, possessing immense power to stand against Zaldor.
The final confrontation took place in a ruined kingdom that had once been lush and vibrant but was now a wasteland. The forces of light cornered Zaldor, who, though weakened without access to the Dark Crystal, fought with relentless ferocity. However, the prophesied prodigy, wielding a weapon forged from pure light, managed to weaken Zaldor and forced him into hiding. Stripped of his power and influence, Zaldor fled, biding his time.
The sages, recognizing that the Dark Crystal could not be destroyed, sealed it deep underground with powerful enchantments, hoping it would remain hidden forever. With Zaldor defeated and the crystal hidden, the sages vanished, leaving the world to slowly heal from the scars of the War of Souls.
Over the centuries, the memory of Zaldor and the Dark Crystal faded into legend. Zaldor, now calling himself Elandor, roamed the world in disguise, searching for the crystal that would allow him to complete his ascension. And so, the dark legacy he had left behind lay buried, waiting to be rediscovered.
This dark power would remain hidden until the day two unsuspecting players—Hiroto and Ronan—stumbled upon the crystal, releasing the dormant energy once more. Players, as they were known in this world, referred to those who had awakened their powers, and these two young men would soon be thrust into the ancient battle between light and dark.
The stakes had never been higher, for if Elandor reclaimed the Dark Crystal, Noctyra would once again be plunged into darkness, with the entire realm hanging in the balance. The struggle that had begun 4,000 years ago had reawakened, and Hiroto, Ronan, and every soul in Noctyra would now face the consequence of Zaldor's ambition.
