"Are you truly serious, my lord?" Anna's voice was laced with a blend of excitement and disbelief as she sought confirmation.
The profession of pharmacists had always been passed down in a rather exclusive manner. They would take on apprentices, but the number was kept to a minimum. After all, those in the same profession often saw each other as rivals. Everywhere, the principle held that the fewer people in a profession, the better. The rarer a skill or service, the more valuable it became, and this was a truth that transcended any region.
Although Anna had no qualms about imparting her knowledge to those eager to become pharmacists, her capabilities were severely limited. For an ordinary person to become a pharmacist, the cost was exorbitant. A pharmacist often had to deplete all of their life savings to train an apprentice into a competent professional. This was one of the primary reasons why pharmacists were so scarce.
