Chapter 38 - Pass

As the three people boarded the carriage and Duolun shouted, the four massive oxen began pulling the long carriage forward. Leaving the hotel yard and following the street outside, the carriage approached the railway platform.

The carriage swayed slightly before stabilizing, and the wheels began to turn with a "creaking" sound as the vehicle gained speed. Along the railway tracks, the oxen galloped wildly under Duolun's commands, quickly putting distance between the carriage and the station. Behind them, the large post station grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared into the horizon.

In the endless expanse of yellow sand, the carriage pressed on, following a faint railway track stretching far into the desert.

"They were way too impatient," someone remarked inside the carriage.
