Chapter 17 - The enemy

"What's going on?"

Just as she was feeling puzzled, an eerie voice emerged out of nowhere.

"Jehhha... You're quite alert and cautious, but today, adventurer, your career comes to an end right here. This is Mother Earth's decree. Accept your pitiful fate, you foolish adventurer..."

The sinister laughter reverberated all around, its sound so loathsome that it sent shivers down one's spine and made the skin crawl.

The voice seemed to come from every direction, making it impossible to pinpoint its origin.

Behind Limon, the young lady had fallen silent, her gaze coldly sweeping across the surroundings.

Although she didn't know who the voice belonged to or who its true target was, the fact that it appeared here meant that the target wasn't just the adventurer in front of her, but herself as well.

"Adventurer, are you confident enough? If this is beyond your capabilities, you can leave."

The haughty voice of the young lady came from behind, causing Limon to pause for a moment. Then he smiled coldly and said impassively, "Just stay quiet. What's there to be afraid of from someone who hides in the shadows?"

"Hehehe... Foolish adventurer, you'll soon learn the consequences of provoking me. Well then, let me see where your confidence comes from. Come forth, Envoy of Earth, King of Wrathful Roars, Apostle of Darkness..."

The ground began to tremble. Right there by the seaside, before their very eyes, the earth split open with a deafening rumble.

A gigantic stone giant crawled out from underground. It stood four meters tall, its body a dark gray color, and its pupils blood-red, exuding an aura of violence.

"It's a Stone Golem, a corrupted earth elemental spirit. Be careful, adventurer."

The young lady's warning voice rang out from behind.

Limon's expression turned serious as he warily watched the imposing Stone Golem.

Level 42...

This was the first monster Limon had encountered with attributes exceeding 100.

"ROAR!"

The massive Stone Golem opened its hollow mouth and let out a deafening roar. Then it started to move.

With each huge step it took towards them, the ground seemed to shake violently. Its presence was truly terrifying.

Limon sensed dark magic surging within it.

This was a sign that it was about to cast a spell...

Without a moment's hesitation, Limon stepped forward, frantically channeling mana into his staff.

At the tip of the staff, dark and evil power surged and concentrated at a furious pace.

Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind sprang up around Limon, forming a vortex with his staff at the center.

"Dark Energy Impact..."

He swung his staff with great force.

"Crack!"

The staff shattered, and a massive surge of black mana erupted like a giant black flame, roaring towards the Stone Golem.

"BOOM!"

Almost in an instant, the black flames slammed into the Stone Golem's head.

A tremendous explosion rang out, and towering green flames burst forth, powerful shockwaves sweeping through the surroundings.

"Ah..."

Even behind Limon, the young lady's headscarf was blown away by the strong wind, revealing her pink hair.

She adorably covered her head and quickly stepped forward to hide behind Limon.

"THUD!"

Amid the towering green flames, a massive figure emerged. The headless body of the Stone Golem toppled over, crashing heavily onto the beach.

The power of the strike was truly terrifying, with the wind reaching as far as a hundred meters away, stirring up countless leaves at the edge of the forest.

"Impossible, this is impossible, such evil power... Hehehe, adventurer, you've won this time, but we shall meet again, for sure. I have this premonition..."

The voice gradually faded away. Had it left?

It must have...

After vigilantly surveying the surroundings and confirming that the enemy had indeed departed, Limon finally let out a deep sigh of relief.

That was a level 42 monster. Although he had managed to eliminate it successfully, the cost had been quite high.

Feeling his completely depleted mana, Limon gave a wry smile.

"Oh..."

The feeling of mana exhaustion lasted only for a moment. In the next instant, his lost mana was restored.

Leveled up?

With such a significant change, this was the only possible explanation.

Four levels at once...

What a windfall! Limon hadn't expected a level 42 Stone Golem to provide so much experience.

He had never imagined that his desperate strike would turn out to be so successful.

Limon truly felt as if he had been blessed by the goddess of fortune.

Was a level 42 monster strong?

Of course it was strong, at least far beyond Limon's current level of strength.

Limon knew full well that neither summoning demons nor any other methods he knew of could effectively destroy the Stone Golem.

He had only one option: to use all his mana for a full-power Dark Energy Impact.

Limon hadn't expected the Dark Energy Impact to kill the Stone Golem in one hit. He had only hoped to inflict some damage and then make a quick escape with the young lady. Yet, surprisingly, his full-power Dark Energy Impact had effortlessly destroyed the Stone Golem.

How was this possible?

A level 42 monster shouldn't have been this vulnerable.

"I didn't expect you to be this powerful, actually destroying the Stone Golem in one hit."

Behind Limon, the young lady poked her head out, looking in astonishment at the Stone Golem lying on the beach.

She had witnessed that incredible strike with her own eyes and had never expected this person to be so formidable.

With the young lady following closely behind, Limon walked towards the Stone Golem.

Looking at the headless Stone Golem, Limon was completely bewildered.

The power of that strike had been extraordinary. The towering flames, the powerful winds... even using all his mana, the Dark Energy Impact shouldn't have been that potent.
