Chapter 4 - Chapter 3.

[Location: Frost Mansion, Lucien's Room]

Waking up from meditation, I did some stretches to knock off the imaginary bone fatigue. Due to my physique and adaptability, I hardly ever get tired, well, sometimes mentally.

I found that meditation also helps with my abilities, allowing me to get in tune with them and learn to better control them. In the future, I may be able to control it such that if I bite someone, I can choose what to turn them into from my collection of consumed supernaturals. Though for now, I can't.

In a sense, the supernaturals I consume are already integrated and became a part of me fully due to adaptability so that I can use their abilities. But when I was meditating one time, I discovered the link and how they connect in my soul space.

In my soul space, a huge tree was formed that showcased any new abilities on the branches of the tree. And there were three huge stars in the night sky above, and I knew what they were. The largest of the stars was my adaptability. It was still growing and also seemed to link with the other two stars and the tree.

The second star was for my weretiger, and when it shines, it portrays my weretiger form. It was also linked to other smaller stars that showed my abilities for the weretiger. On the ground, under the shade of the tree, was my weretiger in its ten-foot soul form asleep.

The last star was for my enhanced learning. It was linked to two other small stars that were for both eidetic and photographic memory capabilities. I hope to someday evolve that into a better version.

Its been a day since I set up the territory control around the Nemeton, and so far there has been no movement. Though I think that will change since I got word that Laura was seen coming into town, now I just have to wait.

The territory control is also on the Frost property and also 10 km around it. So I will always know what is happening around here. Like now, when Amara just drove onto the property with her shopping.

[Laura's p.o.v]

Beacon Hills, I never thought I'd be back here, especially after the fire that killed our family. Derek and I are lucky we weren't there when it happened. But something is happening in the town; I got a report that there have been animal attacks. Especially one with a deer that had the Vendetta spiral drawn on it. So I had to get here as fast as I could to see what was happening.

Getting out of the car, I walked into the sheriff's station to meet with Noah Stilinski, the sheriff. He's a good cop, and since the deer was killed and marked near our old property, I've got the right to ask.

a few moments later...

He didn't know much. Just that the deer was discovered by a hiker walking the trail. Nothing else was found nearby apart from some footprints. They dismissed the case as some kind of prank.

They wouldn't know anything much after all. Time to go see our old advisor. I drove down to the animal clinic, where I found Deaton with a customer. So I waited until he finished up.

"Hello Laura, I didn't expect you to come back here." He said

"I wasn't planning on it. Bad memories here."

"Sorry, so what can I help you with?" he asked

"You know what I want. Who drew the Vendetta symbol on the deer? Anyone new to town?" I asked

"Well, there is a new family in town, the Frost family, quite wealthy, but it isn't them. It's a family of two, brother and sister, and from what I can tell, quite normal so far. They moved in before the deer incident and are quite nice. Though a fair warning, I don't know what they are, but when I saw them in town, especially the boy, every instinct in my body screamed not to mess with them. You can go and meet them; just don't antagonize them." He answered.

"Thanks Deaton, where do they stay?"

"About 5 miles of the main road heading into town. It's the new mansion in the forest towards the lake. Quite the property. And Laura, be careful." He replied.

Well, that's new; Deaton isn't normally afraid of anything. Let's go meet this Frost family. It didn't take long—around fifteen minutes from the clinic. And boy is this place huge.

Going to the gate, there was an intercom, and I pressed it, and a voice answered, male, young, around 16 but deep.

"Hello, who is it?" the voice asked

"My name is Laura Hale; I'm here to meet with the Frost family. Can we meet?"

"A Hale, that's interesting; come in," the voice replied.

So they know about us, this will be easier. The gate opened up, and I drove in. Passing the gate, I felt something instinctual, like something telling me this wasn't my territory and I should be careful. They are definitely not normal people. Even passing through other alphas and their territory, I've never felt this; at most I just knew there was an alpha in the area and nothing else.

Reaching the mansion, there was someone waiting for me at the door. A young man, probably around 16, incredibly handsome, even by my standards, and very fit. Somehow I knew I couldn't beat him in a fight. Well, time to meet the Frosts.

[Lucien's p.o.v]

Well, this is a nice surprise; I never thought I'd be meeting Laura this way. I sensed her coming this way, but I thought she was sightseeing. Actually, this is good. At least I get to meet her before her 'death'. Not like I'm going to let that happen.

She is a beauty, and she also looks like Katie McGrath in this universe. In my last life, she was played by another actor, even if we didn't get to see her much on screen.

She looks fierce, almost like a predator walking in search of prey, with a certain confidence in her walk. Her black hair flowed smoothly behind her, and her blue and green eyes gave her a unique beauty due to their heterochromic nature. Her body was well shaped due to years of working out and fighting, making her more appealing.

She reached the stairs, and I held out my hand in greeting.

"Well, to what do I owe the pleasure of meeting the Hales?" I greeted in question.

"A new family is in town; I thought I'd get to meet them." She answered.

"Well, come on in; it would be nice to talk somewhere more appropriate."

I led her into the house and toward the living room, where we settled for the talk. She seemed tense, and the uncertain look she had after she subtly sniffed me and found nothing seemed to put her on high alert.

She looked at me straight in the eyes as if gauging before asking.

"What are you?"

This caught me by surprise; I didn't think she would be this straight-forward in her approach. I like it.

"I didn't think you'd start there. Why do you ask?" I replied.

"You're not normal. Although your smell doesn't give you away, the sense of danger you give me is like nothing I've felt before. It's like if I do something against you, I'll be dead." She answered with a sense of caution.

Interesting; Amara once said the same thing to me. Something about how I smell too natural to be fully human, like I'm in tune with nature, and when she tried thinking about attacking me, she felt a sense of crisis like she would instantly be dead if she tried.

I guess that's one of the perks; I'm extremely sensitive to any sort of intent directed towards me. And I learned to control my scent fully; I can change it so that I smell exactly like a human or supernatural if I want. But apparently I always smell like nature, at least according to Amara. Oh, and I also learned to control my intent, so I don't leak any, be it killing intent or any other sort.

I can't do anything about how they feel whenever they think about attacking me; guess its somehow engrained in them. A sort of natural fear; I've experienced it during my hunting. Anyone who tried attacking me with intent sort of froze before being able to complete their attack. Was a pain when I started hunting.

Though I found out it was my aura affecting them, so I don't leak it normally. But now I was letting out a small amount. After all, establishing dominance in this sort of conversation makes it better for me.

"Yes, I'm not normal, so let's get straight to the point: why did you come here?" I asked.

"Did you mark the deer? And you didn't answer my question." She replied

"No, I did not mark the deer. If you must know, I'm what you might call a primogenitor." I answered.

"Of what? Which race? Or what supernatural?" She asked in excitement but with a hint of fear.

"You'll see soon enough." I answered mysteriously

Her excitement deflated, but you could still see the intrigue in her. Guess the best way to lure someone is to give them the best bait. Now we wait.

"Alright, thank you for your time." She stood up, shaking my arm where I left a mark of life that immediately faded.

Since it's undetectable, it is also a good means of surveillance in times of need.

"It was nice meeting you as well, and Laura, be careful; a vendetta mark always means trouble."

"I will be," she answered thoughtfully as she left the mansion.

With her here, things will start unfolding; I guess its time to move things up on our part, and that will start with a certain lost girl.
