Chapter 11 - Ch 11 Ancient artifact

Chapter 10: An Unexpected Discovery

After weeks of rigorous training, Rudra and his friends were granted a rare break from the academy. Eager for a change of scenery, Rudra, along with his close friend Nand and the lively Rhea, ventured out to explore Vaikunth City, the bustling capital of Aryavarta State. Known for its ancient relics, massive markets, and lively atmosphere, the city had a magical charm that drew students and visitors alike.

The trio wandered through crowded alleys and vendor stalls. It was Rudra's first time seeing the city outside of his academy life, and he took in every detail with awe. Vaikunth City was a blend of old and new, with towering skyscrapers overlooking age-old temples and artifact markets filled with ancient relics rumored to contain latent powers.

A Mysterious Artifact

As they strolled through the artifact market, something glimmered in the corner of Rudra's eye. He walked over to an old vendor's stall, where a strange, ancient-looking amulet lay half-hidden under a dusty cloth. It had a faint, glowing symbol etched into its surface, and the energy radiating from it felt almost alive.

"Whoa… What is this?" Rudra whispered, picking it up.

The vendor, an old man with a weathered face, eyed him carefully. "Ah, young one, that's no ordinary trinket. That's the Amulet of Storms, said to amplify thunder-based talents. But it's not just a boost—it's said to unlock abilities far beyond the limits of those who wield thunder."

Rudra's heart raced as he held the amulet. "How much?"

Before he could get an answer, an arrogant voice interrupted, dripping with entitlement.

"Well, well. Seems like you've stumbled upon something you can't afford, newbie."

Rudra turned around to see a smug-looking boy, wearing the academy's emblem on his jacket. He instantly recognized the sneering face—it was Viren, a student notorious for his bullying and dark family ties.

Viren's Interruption

> Viren - "Shadow Serpent" Talent (B-Tier)

Skills: Dark Bind, Poison Strike

Level: 15

Family Background: His family had minor noble status but aligned with shady organizations to secure influence within the academy and beyond.

Viren pushed past Rudra, inspecting the amulet with greedy eyes. "This artifact will serve me better than you, anyway. I'll take it." He threw a handful of bills onto the counter, smirking as he tried to snatch the amulet from Rudra's grasp.

Rudra narrowed his eyes, gripping the amulet tightly. "It's not for sale to you," he said coolly. "Find something else."

Viren laughed, clearly amused. "And what are you going to do about it? I don't think you understand who you're dealing with."

Rudra glared back, and Nand stepped forward, a defiant look on his face. "He's dealing with us. Back off, Viren."

The Arrival of Rhea

Just as the tension thickened, a familiar voice chimed in with a laugh. "Boys, boys. Are we really fighting over an amulet in the middle of the market?"

It was Rhea, her arms crossed and a smirk on her face. With her sharp wit and fearless demeanor, she wasn't one to back down from a challenge.

> Rhea - "Phoenix Flare" Talent (A-Tier)

Skills: Fire Blast, Immolation, Healing Flame

Level: 16

Family Background: Her family belonged to the respected Phoenix Clan, known for their healing abilities and fiery offensive skills. They had a long history of protecting Aryavarta State, with strong ties to the academy's leaders.

Rhea strode up to Viren, her expression unbothered. "Don't you have anything better to do than harass my friends?"

Viren's face faltered slightly as he took in Rhea's presence. She was known for her fire-based abilities and was not someone he wanted to mess with. "I—I'm not harassing anyone. Just… showing them how things work around here," he muttered, trying to save face.

Rhea rolled her eyes. "Sure, keep telling yourself that. Now, why don't you go find something else to entertain yourself with?"

Viren shot her a venomous look but reluctantly stepped back. "Fine. But this isn't over, Rudra. Remember that," he sneered before turning on his heel and disappearing into the crowd.

Exploring the City

After Viren's departure, Rudra let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Rhea. That could've gone south fast."

Rhea laughed, nudging him. "No problem. Someone has to keep you boys out of trouble." She eyed the amulet with interest. "So… you really want that thing, huh?"

Rudra nodded, studying it thoughtfully. "It feels… powerful. Like it was meant to find me."

The vendor, who had been observing the scene in silence, spoke up. "Young man, the amulet is drawn to those with thunder abilities. But beware—such power comes with responsibility."

Rudra nodded, slipping the amulet into his pocket. "I understand."

The trio then decided to continue exploring the city. They roamed the crowded streets, marveling at the towering statues, ancient temples, and historical sites. Rhea entertained them with stories of her clan's legendary battles, while Nand shared his dreams of becoming a defender, just like his father.

A Heartfelt Conversation

As evening fell, the group found a quiet spot near the city's riverfront. The sunset cast a warm glow over the water, and they sat in companionable silence, watching the light dance on the waves.

"I still can't believe we're here," Nand said, his voice full of wonder. "Just a few months ago, we were normal students. And now… it's like we're part of something much bigger."

Rudra nodded. "I know what you mean. This talent, this power… it's a lot to handle. Sometimes, I feel like there's so much I still don't understand."

Rhea leaned back, looking at them thoughtfully. "We're all figuring it out together. None of us expected to be at the center of all this. But that's what makes it exciting—and terrifying, I guess."

The trio shared a quiet moment, realizing how much they'd grown since their journey began.

Returning to the Academy

The next morning, they made their way back to the academy, each of them carrying a renewed sense of purpose. Rudra couldn't shake the feeling that the amulet held a key to his growth. He'd have to keep it hidden for now, but he knew it was a piece of his destiny.

Back in his dorm room that night, Rudra opened his system interface and glanced at his status.
