First person's point of view
Monica walked into her father's house with her heart heavy with worry. She had come to check on her father, hoping to find him in good health. But as she entered the living room, she met with a surprise. Her mother, Emily, was sitting on a couch with a cold look in her eyes.
" What are you doing here?" Emily asked Monica, her voice dripping with malice.
Monica stood tall, her eyes locked on Emily's. " I came to check on my father, hoping you haven't killed him yet" she replied with her firm voice.
Emily's expression turned to anger, her face reddening with rage. "How dare you talk to me like that", she spat.
Monica didn't back down, her eyes full of determination. " For now you can enjoy being my adoptive mother and my father's wife "she said steadily, "but once I find evidence of everything you have done, you are going to rot in prison dear mother".
With that, Monica turned and left, leaving Emily seething with anger. She got into her car and drove away. Her mind was racing with the thought of her father and how she would find everything to bring Emily down. As she drove, Monica's thoughts turned to her father. She knew Emily was drugging him to keep him weak.
Monica's heart filled with determination as she stepped on the gas, her car speeding down the road. She knew she had a long way ahead of her, but she was ready for anything that came her way.
Monica drove to her father's gallery. As she walked into the gallery, her eyes scanned everywhere till she landed on Mia, her sister. Mia's eyes widened in shock as Monica approached her.
" Mia, we need to talk" Monica said,
Mia looked at her warily, but Monica could see the fear lurking in her eyes. "What is going on Monica? " She asked, her voice trembling.
It's about your mother. I know what she's been doing to father, and I won't stand for it. Mia's expression changed from fear to defensiveness. "You are just being paranoid, Monica. Mother isn't doing anything to father. He is just old and weak."
Monica's smile was bitter. "You are a fool, Mia, you have always been. You think your mother is innocent? I know the truth, and I am going to expose her for who she is".
Mia's face reddened with anger. "How dare you! Monica, you are just trying to cause trouble. I won't listen to you anymore".
Monica shrugged, "fine, but know this Mia is not going to stop until I bring your mother down, and if you are smart you will stay out of my way".
Mia's eyes flashed with anger, "I am not afraid of you, Monica, and I am not going to let you ruin our family. From now on, we are no longer sisters. I don't want to have anything to do with an ungrateful daughter like you".
Monica smiled a cold smile. "Good it's better that way. But know this, Mia, I am not going to do anything that will make father hate me. I will make sure he knows the truth and I will do it in a way that won't hurt him".
With that, Monica turned away and left, leaving Mia seething with anger.
Meanwhile, at Gael's office, Gael called Miguel into his office. " Miguel, how are you doing? He asked, his voice dipping with concern.
Miguel looked at him wearily, but Gael's expression was innocent.
I'm doing okay boss, just trying to get over my divorce".
Gael's eyes widened in surprise. Divorce? I had no idea. What happened?
Miguel shrugged. "My wife just left me out of the blue. I had no idea what I did wrong".
Gael's expression was sympathetic. "I'm so sorry Miguel. That must be tough for you, but don't worry, I'm here for you. We will get over this together".
Miguel smiled, grateful for Gael's support, but what he did not know was that Gael was playing a game, pretending to be his friend while secretly manipulating him. And Monica was just a pawn in Gael's game, a game that would lead to destruction.
Gael invited Monica to a quiet place with no disturbance. He led her to a quiet clearing surrounded by trees that seemed to stretch up to the sky. He sat Monica down on a chair. Gael suddenly dropped to one knee, his eyes locked on hers. "Monica, why did you agree to marry me?" He asked, his voice low and husky.
Tears rolled down Monica's face as she gazed at Gael. "If I didn't, Mia wouldn't get hurt" she said, her voice nearly below a whisper, "And Miguel, who loves her, will also get hurt, and her mother, who is crazy about her daughter, would also be devastated. I want every one of them to suffer". Gael's smile was triumphant.
"Yes Monica, that is what I wanted to hear" he said, his eyes glamming with satisfaction.
He pulled out a small box from his pocket and opened it, revealing a stunning diamond ring. "If I'm going to rescue a princess, I should come prepared", he said, his voice dipping with charm. He put the ring onto Monica's finger. His eyes locked into hers "marry me Monica, no Monica, will you marry me?"
Monica's heart raced as she looked at Gael. She knew she was getting into a dangerous game, but she had no choice. She nodded her head and Gael's face lifted with joy. Then Gael said," If so, then prove it to me". He took some steps back and opened his arms wide for Monica to go, but Monica did something more shocking. She stood up, moved closer to him and kissed him. Gael's face was written shocked all over" isn't that what you want", Monica asked, feeling shy . Gael smiled and placed his hand on her waist. He drew her closer and they kissed passionately.
And when the deal was sealed, Monica was trapped with Gael. The game was on and Monica knew she had to play if she wanted to survive.
Mr Tomas' eyes fluttered open, his mind foggy from the long period of rest. He looked around, trying to remember how he ended up in bed. Emily was by his side pretending to be concerned. " How long have I been in bed?" He asked, with his weak voice.
" It is almost a month dear" Emily replied, her voice soft.
Mr Tomas' eyes widened in shock. "A month? How could I have been bedridden for so long". He tried to stand up, but a wave of dizziness washed him all over, forcing him back to the pillow. Just then the bell rang, the maid went to answer it and soon Monica and Gael walked into her parents' bedroom. Monica's eyes lifted with joy as she saw her father's improving condition.
" Dad, I am so happy you are doing okay now" she exclaimed.
Mr Tomas's mind raced with questions. What was Monica doing with Gael? Why are they together?
Before he could ask any questions, Gael spoke up" sir, I want to marry Monica. I know I am a bit late for your blessings, but I hope you will still approve of us sir".
Mr Tomas' eyes shifted to Monica's, who nodded in confirmation it was true. Dad, we are getting married. And we have your blessings. Don't we?"
Mr Tomas's face softened up, his face filled with love for his daughter. "Of course, you have my blessing, but Monica, what about Miguel? Her father asked with concern.
" Dad, I divorced him after I woke up from a coma" she replied. Her father was shocked. "Coma, were you in a coma? What happened?" Monica realized that her father couldn't remember anything. "Dad, don't worry about anything, just rest. Gael and I will take care of things", she held Gael's hand, pretending to be in love.
But the scene was not without its drama. Mia and her mother Emily, who were standing by the door, looked on in shock. Mia's eyes widened in disbelief, and she quickly turned and ran out of the room, her mother chasing her. Monica looked back and smiled evilly. " Dad, why don't you lay down and rest" she said to her father with concern in her eyes.
" Mia, wait" Emily called out, but Mia was too fast. She slammed the door shut, locking it behind her.
The room was left in an awkward silence, with Monica and Gael exchanging a nervous glance. After Monica's father fell asleep, she told Gael to go home, and she wanted to stay with her father for a while. As she was escorting him to the car, Emily walked up to them. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself? You stole the man your sister was supposed to marry", Emily lashed out with anger. Monica smiled bitterly. "They were supposed to get married, they were not married, and I only returned the favor. Mia did I mean she stole my husband and I stole the man she was supposed to marry".
Monica walked Gael out laughing evilly.
