Chapter 8 - Who is me 01

### DEMENTIA

She tightly clutched a stack of papers to her chest. She was about to call him again. But then a senior caught sight of her. He paused. Curiosity was etched on his face.

"Hmm, what?" he asked. He tilted his head slightly. With eyes wide from determination she stepped forward. She said again "Sir, I have information about Ray," she said. Her voice was steady. There was though an undertone of excitement.

"Oh Ray! Nitrator's one?" he replied. Raising an eyebrow. The girl nodded vigorously. Her heart was racing. The senior approached her. He came closer. He shifted from a casual demeanor to a focused one.

"Hmm, yes sir, the papers," he murmured. This was to himself not to her. "Sir Jacob wanted those before the attack. Maybe he forgot about that." He spoke his mind racing.

"Yes sir," she responded. There was no hesitation. She was eager to please. But just as she prepared to hand over the valuable documents there was a disaster. The papers slipped by the senior. They cascaded white on the floor. The girl was anxious.

"Oh no!" she exclaimed. The senior quickly crouched down. He collected the fallen sheets. "Sorry about that," he said. A hint of embarrassment colored his tone. As he straightened up the papers were neatly stacked in his hands.

"It's alright sir," As she reached to take the papers back he refrained from handing them over. "Wait a sec," he said inspecting the top sheet with intent.

Heart racing girl was confused. "What's happening sir?" she asked.

"I think I know about this plant," he replied. A hint of intrigue was in his eyes. But when she inquired further, "Which planet?" he only delved deeper into his examination, ignoring her question.

After a moment of silence she let out a small sigh. She tried to understand his distraction. "Sir?" she prompted again but he remained lost in thought.

She finally interjected with a hint of impatience. "I need to submit this. Please, sir." She reached for the papers. Her tone shifted slightly showing resolve.

Her words seemed to barely register. He appeared caught between reality and the past. On hand was a forgotten lesson.

"Uh, yes, yes, I am sorry," he mumbled. The man returned to his senses.

With a sigh of relief, the girl took back the papers. Her fingers brushed against his. "Thank you," she said. A smile lit up her face as she looked to him. "I will see you later sir."

She turned then. The girl began to walk at a slightly quick pace towards Jacob's office. Her heart felt lighter due to the moment.

The senior stayed in the same position, thinking deeply. "I read about that," he mused silently. His mind raced. He tried to remember where he'd heard the planet name. Yet the answer evaded him.

### NITAROR

Jacob's chuckling a warm sound illuminated the surrounding space. He uncurled from a slight hunch. The playful glitter in his eyes was captivating. It was like sunlight dancing over a rippling lake. With assured stride he inched towards Keys. The air between them seemed electric. It held a palpable camaraderie. This camaraderie deepened their connection. "So. Your brain is the biggest weapon?" he teased. A smile stretched across his face.

Keys was an expert at bouncing off Jacob's banter. He dropped his arms, letting them fall behind his back exaggeratedly. The motion caught Jacob's focus. It was like a moth being drawn to a flame.

Keys replied to Jacob with a mischievous glint in his eye. His voice had playful sarcasm in its tone. "Really just a quick guess," he quipped.

Meanwhile Mint stood silently behind the others. He was an observant figure amidst lively personalities. His gaze drifted toward the unfolding scene. His mind was a whirlpool of thoughts. Mint caught sight of Rey captured within Deku's Liquid hand. Uncertainty washed over him in that moment.

"That's it? It's over?" he murmured to himself. Skepticism threaded through his voice. "I thought he was up to something bigger."

Mint lets thoughts spiral into self-reflection. Couldn't help but glance back to the spirited banter between Keys and Jacob. "Sometimes I think too much," he sighed. Shook their head as tried to untangle the complexities of their interactions.

Abruptly air around them shifted. Rey hoisted Suman into air. He did so on the right side. It was a swift motion. This action startled Mint from his reverie. The next moment, Rey launched a direct kick. The kick was towards Mint's face. It was a harsh rebuke. "Don't want a fight? Move your shite from here!" he shouted. His voice was a combination of annoyance and urgency. He landed gracefully on the surface. The impact resonated through the ground beneath them.

Firmly grounded now Rey shifted his focus. He fired off a quick call to Deku. "Hey, Liquid Guys here!"

Deku discovered himself in a strange impasse. His hands appeared to cradle Ray's essence. It was an odd situation one that felt surreal yet immediate. The atmosphere bristled with tension. Only a faint sound of distant rustling penetrated it. It was something that dragged at his attention. With a flicker of uncertainty, he shifted his gaze to Ray. His expression held a hint of bemusement. Deku's brow furrowed slightly. He found himself caught in a moment of bewilderment.

Mint was nearby. He was sprawled leisurely across the surface. He looked like a cunning jester. He propped himself up on an elbow. His curiosity was piqued. "But how?" he inquired. His voice was a blend of mischief and genuine interest.

Ray was momentarily taken aback. He furrowed his brow. "What do you mean, how?" he asked confusion lacing his tone.

Mint's lips curled into a knowing smirk. His eyes glinted with enigmatic amusement. "Until Today, no one has escaped Deku's grasp. You should have become a Deku host body." His words hung in the air.

Ray caught a glimpse of Mint. An idea sprouted an insight in his mind. "Variation isn't it?" he replied. His voice was resolute. The realization descended. It was like a dawn that had been waiting for long.

Deku is the opposite. He had already started summoning an energy wave. His hand glowed with intensity. It seemed to speak of an impending action. He made a sudden move. It was an attempt to hold Ray once more. However, this time was different. Ray teleported into the air. A grin spread across his face. He laughed. The sound was bright and carefree. It echoed in the stillness.

"Same trick," he shouted to Deku from his spot in the air. His hand rested on his forehead dramatically. It was to emphasize his mock irritation. "How many times will you use this, kiddo?"
