After travelling for hours, Ashan and the group finally arrived at a very large city with really tall buildings, statues of creatures, and beautiful sceneries. They flew for a while more and landed in the front of an apartment.
"Welcome home, guys," Ashan said to the group.
"Is this your place?" Finn asked Ashan who smiled proudly.
"Yes, of course. It's mine, I bought it with my hard earned money," he replied.
Finn clicked his tongue. "You don't have to be boastful about that. Anyone can buy an apartment."
"Hah, you better watch your tone or I'll be forced to throw you out soon!" Ashan warned but Finn rolled his eyes.
"Brother, stop being rude to them!" Lily said to her brother who scoffed.
"I'm doing this because of you," he said and headed to the apartment. He opened the door and gestured to them to enter.
Finn carried Tim and followed Lily who led the way.
Behind the entrance door was a courtyard, and there various other buildings arranged in a circle with one main building at the center. It was quite a lovely place adorned with flowers and beautiful trees. Finn was amazed that these kids who were barely sixteen years could live and maintain such a lovely place.
"Lily is in love with the nature, she is the brain behind the things you see here," Ashan said as he led Finn to where they would be staying.
"It's wonderful," Finn praised. It truly is.
"Yeah..." Ashan trailed off. "Ever since our parents died during the first attack from monsters, she had always wanted to live a quiet life, away from the troubles of life and anything associated with monsters but she couldn't. When she was little, she dreamed of becoming a miracle doctor, one that is capable of bringing even the dead back to life... Sounds funny, right?" He sighed. "It sounds funny but she is seriously working towards that dream. Every day, she buries herself into books, she travels around, looking for rare herbs, not minding how dangerous the world is now. I tried talking sense into her but she never listens, so now, I try to suppot her no matter what."
"Is that how you guys ended up in that place?" Finn asked and Ashan nodded.
"Yeah. She was looking for some herbs when she saw Tim and how seriously ill he was. She said it wasn't a curse but a disease caused by a deadly poison, it kills it's victim slowly. She also said that the illness is a challenging one and as such, she wants to deal with it."
Finn was confused because everyone had thought it was a curse and that Tim also said it was a cure, he wondered how it wasn't a curse, but rather a strange sickness.
"My sister will explain more," Ashan said, seeing that Finn was getting confused. "Here, this is where you will be staying."
Finn glanced at the building and nodded his head. "Thank you."
"As for him, you will have to bring him to stay at the one next to my sister's house," Ashan said and they left once more again to the building next to Lily's own. He helped them in and then Finn carefully placed Tim on the bed.
"Where is your sister?" Finn asked.
"She will be here soon," Ashan replied. "You can wait if you want, I have something else to do." After Ashan had left, Finn sat down on the chair and decided to wait for Lily to come. He was curious, eager to know the real truth about Tim's condition.
"You are still here," Lily's tiny voice woke Finn up from his sleep.
He opened his eyes and saw her carrying a box, perhaps it contained her medicines.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting for long," she said.
"Don't bother," Finn replied and sat straight. "I'm more concerned about him."
"Ashan must have told you something," Lily muttered and sighed. "That boy just doesn't know when to shut his mouth."
"I want to know the truth, tell me everything," Finn demanded.
Letting out a sigh, Lily began. "He was given a poison which has a slow effect. The person who gave it to him didn't want him to die quickly, they intended to let him die slowly with the sufferings attached to it. They lied to him that it was a curse so that he would not think of funding the cure for the sickness, by so doing, the sickness became too severe until it got to this stage. If he was treated earlier, perhaps, he would have survived it but this was their plan all along... To let him die without knowing the cause of his death."
Finn's eyes widened in shock and outrage as Lily's words painted a sinister picture. "Who would do such a thing?" he demanded, his voice trembling with anger.
Lily's expression turned somber. "I don't know, but I intend to find out. First, we need to focus on saving Tim's life."
Finn nodded, his mind racing with the implications of Lily's words. He looked over at Tim, who lay motionless on the bed, and felt a surge of determination.
"We'll do whatever it takes to save him," Finn said, his voice firm.
Lily nodded, a hint of a smile on her face. "I'm glad you're willing to help. We have a long and difficult road ahead of us, but I'm confident that together, we can save Tim's life."
As Lily began to unpack her box of medicines, Finn watched her with a sense of hope that he hadn't felt in a long time. Maybe, just maybe, they could save Tim's life.
Lily carefully examined Tim's wounds, her eyes scanning his body with a practiced intensity. "We need to get the poison out of his system as quickly as possible," she muttered, her hands moving swiftly as she prepared a concoction of herbs and medicines.
Finn watched anxiously, his heart racing with concern for his friend. "Will he be okay?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lily's expression turned solemn. "I'll do everything I can to save him, but I need you to understand that the poison is powerful and the treatment will be difficult."
Finn nodded, his jaw clenched in determination. "Do whatever it takes. I'll do whatever I can to help as well."
Lily nodded, a hint of a smile on her face. "I appreciate your willingness to help. Now, let's get started."
As Lily began the treatment, Finn watched anxiously, his heart filled with hope and concern for his friend's fate. The hours ticked by slowly, the tension in the room palpable as they waited for any sign of improvement.
Suddenly, Tim's eyes flickered open, his gaze unfocused. "Finn?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Finn's heart leapt with joy. "I'm here, Tim! You're going to be okay!"
Tim's gaze locked onto Finn's, a faint smile on his lips. "Thanks... Finn."
Lily's face lit up with a warm smile. "He's going to be okay," she said, her voice filled with relief.
Finn let out a sigh of relief, his eyes welling up with tears. "Thank you, Lily," he said, his voice choked with emotion.
As the tension in the room dissipated, Finn couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Lily and her brother Ashan. They had taken them in and saved Tim's life, and Finn knew that he would never forget their kindness.
