Chapter 2 - Art Of Beast Taming

Finn and his friends finally understood a bit of the whole thing, they could undoubtedly say that their appearance in this world wasn't a mere coincidence, they were no doubt on a mission to save the world and its inhabitants.

"Let me take you guys to your new class," Arin informed them and led them through a different hallway.

They passed many buildings until they finally got to their destination. The class was fairly large, enough to hold a maximum of hundred students.

"Follow me."

Arin pushed open the door and walked in. Finn and his friends were greeted by a room filled with so many students. They all stopped what they were doing and began to stare at them — they had obviously not seen them before so they were confused and curious at the same time.

"Eva, this is...." Arin paused in his introduction. It just occured to him that he didn't even know the names of Finn and his friends. So he glanced at Finn to help him out.

"My name is Finn, this is Emma, and he is Ryan," Finn said.

"Yes. They are from the other world," Arin announced. "Hopefully, they will become your students and you will teach them to become powerful beast tamers."

"You have nothing to worry about, Arin," Eva, the gentle teacher replied.

"That is great. I'll leave them to you," Arin felt relieved and then left the class after gesturing to Finn and his friends to take their seats.

Eva smiled warmly, welcoming Finn, Emma, and Ryan. "Let's continue," she said and wrote some words on the whiteboard. 'Beast Taming Art'

"The Art of Beast Taming is an ancient craft, requiring patience, understanding, and strength. Beasts come in various forms, each with unique abilities and characteristics."

She then gestured to a large diagram on the board, displaying different beast categories.

'Beast Categories:' she wrote.

1. Mammalian: Wolves, Bears, Felines

2. Avian: Eagles, Hawks, Phoenix

3. Reptilian: Dragons, Snakes, Lizards

4. Elemental: Fire, Water, Earth, Air

"Beasts are ranked based on their strength, agility, and magical abilities," she explained further. "The ranking system consists of five tiers: D, C, B, A, and S."

'Beast Ranks:'

- D-Rank: Common beasts. For example, Goblins, Small Wolves.

- C-Rank: Average strength, moderate magical abilities. For example, minor Dragons, large Bears.

- B-Rank: Strong, notable magical abilities. For example, elemental spirits, giant Wolves.

- A-Rank: Exceptional strength, advanced magical abilities. For example, legendary Dragons, Phoenix.

- S-Rank: Elite, extremely rare, and powerful beasts. For example, ancient Dragons, Elemental Guardians.

Eva handed each of them a comprehensive guidebook. "Study this manual, and you'll understand the fundamentals of beast taming."

Ryan raised his hand. "How do we tame these beasts?"

Eva's eyes sparkled. "That's the art of beast taming. It requires empathy, strategy, and bonding. You'll learn various techniques, such as one, resonance; Harmonizing your energy with the beast's. Secondly, command; Issuing clear, authoritative instructions, thirdly, empathy; Understanding the beast's emotions and needs."

Finn's eyes widened. "That sounds complex."

Eva nodded. "It is. But with dedication and practice, you'll become skilled beast tamers. Your first lesson will be observing the beasts in the training arena."

As Eva continued teaching, Finn, Emma, and Ryan exchanged excited glances. They were eager to begin their journey as beast tamers.

Eva led the class to thr training arena, a spacious area filled with various beasts. "Observe the beasts and how they interect with their tamers!"

As they watched, a student, Kael, confidently walked into the arena, behind him was his beast — a majestic B- rank Wolf.

Then another boy walked out from among the crowd of people with their beasts. The beast behind him was a sleek C-rank panther.

"Show-off!" A voice whispered behind Finn.

Finn turned to see a boy with spiky hair and glasses. He asked. "Who is he?"

"The boy's Ryder," the boy replied. "Thinks he is the best beast tamers because his family is renowned."

Eva noticed Ryder's gaze. "Ryder, care to demonstrate your taming skills?" She asked him.

"Yes, I'll love to," he replied, smirking.

He strode into the arena, his eyes locked on Kael's wolf.

"Let's see how you handle a real challenge, Kael," he said to the boy.

"Are they some kind of enemies or what?" Emma who was beside Finn asked the boy feeding them stories.

"The two of them are among the best beast tamers we have in the school, their families are also business rivals so they are always at odds with each other, one is always trying to out shine the other."

"I see, that explains the whole thing," Emma muttered and Finn nodded.

Back at the arena, Eva felt things would get too heated for them and changed her mind.

"Boy, on second thought, I'd like you two to so something else."

"What could that be?" Ryder asked. He was obviously getting upset because his plans

to show the newcomers his glory has already been destroyed.

Eva gestured to the arena. "Ryder and Kael, you'll tame Gorthok simultaneously. The first to establish a stable connection wins."

Ryder smirked. "Child's play." Though his first plan had failed, this one was nothing to him. Taming a D-rank beast was like boiling water.

Kael nodded confidently. "Bring it on." Unlike Ryder, he had a calm yet confident gaze.

The doors opened, and Gorthok, the D-Rank beast, charged into the arena.

Ryder swiftly released his resonance energy, attempting to calm Gorthok.

Kael employed a different tactic, using his agility to dodge Gorthok's attacks.

Gorthok snarled, swiping at Kael.

Ryder seized the opportunity, amplifying his resonance.

Gorthok paused, momentarily entranced.

Kael countered with a commanding voice.

Gorthok's attention wavered between Ryder's resonance and Kael's authority.

The crowd held its breath.

Finn, Emma, and Ryan watched intently.

"Ryder's using his family's signature technique," the boy behind Finn and his friends whispered.

"But Kael's adapting quickly," Ryan replied.

Suddenly, Gorthok's ears perked up.

Ryder's resonance faltered.

Kael capitalized on the opening.

"Gorthok, heel!" Kael commanded.

Gorthok hesitated, then obeyed.

The arena erupted in applause.

Eva smiled. "Kael wins this round."

Ryder's face darkened. "Rematch."

Kael grinned. "Anytime."

Finn, Emma, and Ryan exchanged impressed glances.

"There shall be no rematches," Eva told the boys.

Upon hearing it, Ryder's face darkened once more. He could not hide his dissatisfaction and everyone could see it from the look on his face, he was not good at hiding his true feelings like Kael who despite not being happy with Eva's decision didn't make it known.

"I hope you have seen what they did here?" Eva turned to Finn and his friends and asked. "It is up to you to decide whether or not you will be able to become as good as they are. Return now, all of you!"

As Finn and his friends made their way out of the arena together with other students, he had his mind fixed on the challenge between Ryder and Kael. He was determined to become a beast tamer like them, if possible, a better beast tamer than they are. The only question now is 'Can he surpass them?'

"What are you thinking?" Emma asked him as they headed back to there classroom.

"He is obviously thinking about what the teacher said," Ryan replied. He could say he knew his friend Finn and what was in his mind.

The three of them had been friends since childhood so they knew themselves more than they think they do.

"I thought about that as well," Emma stated. "And I want to become the best beast tamer in this world."

"While I become the greatest beast tamer!" Finn acclaimed.

"Yeah, same here!" Ryan agreed. Seeing his two friends being optimistic and all that, he couldn't be left out even when he truly hasn't understood anything yet.
