Chapter 13 - The New Guild Arises

Everyone stood in a room, Emopa standing before them in front of a quest board. There were papers that were stuck to it with thumbtacks, or daggers.

The room itself seemed rather well kept despite its lack of use. It was pretty large, having two wooden tables that a few of the crew rested on. There was also a large window to peer outside.

It also had curtains to keep others from peering inside.

"Okay! First order of business. I know there are a lot of us, but we're all technically founding members of this guild. So we're going to go around and say what we wish for out of this. I'll start." Emopa placed his hand on his chest.

"I wish to grow stronger so I can protect my friends." His tone sounded serious, like he had come to a revelation.

Vatel spoke up. "I wish for the same thing."

"I wish to be the best chef I can be to help you guys!" Sorra smiled, looking down at Kyr.

"Oh, I wish to be the world's best assassin! Meow." He looked up at Ulrich.

"World's best smith." He chuckled, fiddling with the small hairs on his beard.

"I wish to grow more as a person. I still find myself being quite quick to anger." Mareth said, sitting on one of the desks as he stared out the window.

"A goal of mine is to be a great musician." Mara said with a small, sheepish smile on her face.

"My goal is to make everyone laugh and put a smile on their face." Static said.

Fox smiled. "I just wish for everyone to live happy lives."

"Okay! That looked like everybody. So, first order of official business. We all have individual ranks, as you can see. Though we also have a guild rank, which is an average among our collective ranks." Emopa said, crossing his arms.

"So, I have a question. Do you guys want this guild to be inclusive or exclusive?" He asked, some of them mumbling to each other.

"Alright, since you all can't seem to decide and we're all founding members, how about this? We all split ourselves into divisions." Emopa suggested, waiting to hear a response.

Everyone seemed to agree on it, so Emopa continued. "Alright, since we're the Seraphim's Eyes, we're going to name ourselves as an eye. For example, I'll be the Eye of The Dead ."

"If we're doing it like that, then I'll be the Eye of Strength." Vatel said, nodding at the name.

"This feels embarrassing... I'll be the Eye of Light." Mareth hopped off the desk.

"I'll be the Eye for The Forge!" Ulrich said proudly, as if he's been waiting for a moment like this.

"Eye of Trickery." Static said, taking off his top hat and making it disappear. "See?"

"I'll be the Eye of The Feast." Sorra was using her magic to create a sandwich, eating it once it was done.

"I'll be the Eye of Judgement." Fox looked over to Mara.

"Oh! I'll be the Eye of Song!" She said, showing off her guitar excitedly.

"I'll be Eye of Stealth, I guess!" Kyr flipped a dagger in the air, catching it.

"Alright! That settles things. Since we're all part of our own divisions, we can all choose whether to run solo or include people in our guild." Emopa said, slapping his hand on the board.

"You guys ready to do some quests? So far we only have F-level ones, but I'm sure with how strong we were, we'll get up fast." Emooa said, grabbing a quest of his own.

Everyone grabbed quests of their own, submitting them one by one to Termin.

"Right to business eh?" Termin asked, looking up at Vatel, who was the last one to submit a paper.

"Yeah. Say, What are the ranks of this guild?" Vatel asked as Termin stamped the paper.

"From F rank all the way to Legend Rank. F, E, D, C, B, B+, A, A+, AA, AA+, AAA, S, S+, SS, SS+, SSS, SSS+, X, and then you have a fancy title, then you have Legend Rank." Terminer said, chuckling.

"That's... Wow. How many Legend Ranks have there been?" Vatel asked, taking back the paper.

"In history? There have been three. Agula, who's the most recent one. Morris Insomniac, who was a dedicated scientist and alchemist, and lastly, Riot Field. He's the least known, despite him being the first." Termin leaned back in his chair.

"I believe you guys can at least get to S rank in a few years. Probably less, seeing as you're a capable group." Termin then casually waved him off.

Vatel was a little taken aback by the casualness of the dismissal, but just shrugged it off and left the guild hall.

"So, all of these are low-level quests? I saw the majority of them consisted of goblins and all that stuff, so I don't think stuff should take long." Vatel said, placing a hand on Emopa's shoulder as Emopa looked at him, nodding.

"The highest rank they have is Legend Rank, and currently only three people full that role... He said the most recent one was a woman named Agula." Vatel said, wondering if he even recalled the name correctly.

Ulrich and Static's eyes widened. "AGULA?" They both said it in unison, looking at each other.

"You know her?!" Static asked, looking down at Ulrich.

"Yeah, she saved my ass from an Abyssal Horror while I was looking for you guys." Ulrich nodded.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Sam walked toward Alric with her hands in her pockets. The city and the monsters around them were destroyed; no survivors.

The debris around the area clouded it, making Alric cough.

Alric had his blade stabbed into the ground, a hole was visible on his chest, and his heart was missing. "You monster..." he said, breathing heavily.

Sam giggled, "Awh! Don't be so glum! You're going to a good cause. Turning this world into a Refuge World for my people. We can't have others running amuck."

Alric tried to stand, but his muscles were torn and his tendons were cut.

"Don't even try it. This universe isn't under the rule of a God or Goddess, so they won't know if a bunch of Abominations flocked over here." She said with a devilish grin, leaning down and grabbing his chin.

"You're an Apostle, so killing you won't alert your God. A shame you had to come across me. Emopa is still a fledgling, but he'll get the ropes eventually." She grabbed his face and lifted him into the air.

"Time to just kill ya!" She said playfully, but he suddenly exploded, the blood splattering everywhere and beginning to move into the tower.

Same was about to chase him, but watched as the tower closed, the beam of energy dissipating as it then began to collapse.

"Well shit! There goes our one ticket for expansion! I believe there were others though... Hopefully those are still active." She said, taking out a vial of some blood.

"This is Emopa's... I'll get Scarlet to track him for me. Teach him the ropes a little." She put the Vial back in her pocket.

"If Alric finds Emopa or one of his friends, I think they'll be able to handle him nicely." She giggled.

Back at the group, they had finished their quests and were at a bar drinking. They all seemed to be having a good time.

"Hey guys! Watch this!" Static said, lighting his Yoyo on fire and spinning it rapidly. He then formed a flaming infinity sign, manipulating it freely and making various signs and symbols such as hearts, peace signs, and even something akin to a kaleidoscope.

Mareth didn't drink, as it was against what Olkapo's had taught him. It was one of the many things Olkapo had taught him not to do.

Mareth had to give up smoking, drinking, and the daily pleasures of life and focus on meditation.

He honestly found it a little upsetting, but he resisted the temptation.

"Come on, Mareth! Have a little something, bud!" Vatel shoved a mug of beer into Mareth's chest.

Mareth chuckled and grabbed the mug. "I guess one day of fun couldn't hurt." He said, starting to chug the whole thing.

"Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug!" Everyone chanted in unison as Mareth slammed down the mug, the beer completely gone.

Everyone cheered as Mara and Emopa held up Mareth's hands.

Mara looked at him, and a wide grin formed on her face, drinking some of her own and planting a big kiss onto Mareth's lips, transferring her drink.

They fell over on the ground, everyone staring in shock but some cheering them on.

Fox blushed brightly and grabbed her, pulling her off before things escalated. "Calm down, you hornball!" She yelled as Mara drunkenly laughed.

Mareth, who was still relatively sober, was just shocked all around.

"Looks like someone's got a little crush!" Ulrich gently budged Mareth's arm with his foot.

He rose from the ground, Emopa grabbing his hand and helping him up. "You should get to know her, dude; she seems pretty cool!"

"Yeah dude! Shoot your shot tomorrow. Just enjoy yourself here." Static said, Mareth sighing and nodding. "Alright."

The rest of the night was spent partying. This bonding experience will strengthen their friendships and relationships as guild members.

Outside, a drunk was wandering out the bar, chuckling with his friend besides him. "Aye! You heard of the Seraphim's Eyes? They were a recent guild that began clearin' quests at a fast pace!" He had a thick Irish accent to him.

His friend, a taller, lankier man, laughed. "Yeah! I did hear,Do you think they'll be any good or they'll just be debut warriors?"

"Ahh, doesn't matter! You heard the news? The Solar Empire's golden boy, Mono, recently left to return to his homeland." The shorter make said.

"Hope that nation doesn't go to war now." He joked, both of them laughing as they walked into the night.
