The W.H.O. van hummed softly as we sped through the city, the low growl of its engine blending with the ambient noise outside. Rain slicked the streets, turning the world into a distorted mess of neon reflections. I sat near the back, wedged between Victoria and Agent Thorne. Both were radiating tension, albeit in different flavors.
Victoria, as always, was a storm contained within a polished exterior. Her tailored coat sat perfectly on her shoulders, her arms crossed tightly as she stared out the window. The flicker of streetlights danced across her face, highlighting her narrowed eyes and the slight downturn of her lips. She was ready to strike, and God help anyone who stood in her way.
